HTC was known for making super beautiful and elaborate (complete with raindrops and wipers and etc) weather widget back in the WinMo and early android days.. Then the trend shifted to simple, flat and plain looking widget.. Now google is starting to shift back to colorful and elaborate and the trend will go full circle.. I still remember the amazing experience flying smoothly through beautiful clouds when tapping on the weather widget on HTC HD7

This is irrelevant, but I think the background of the buttons should change color as well, also it shouldn't be in a screenshot.

Looks useful and I can't think on any drawbacks of it. Good for Google.
