SoSi, 26 Apr 2010Yes, Indeed Singapore is now having iPhone fever.
Everywhere is iPhone. Offices, MRT (subway)... morethanks for the good news, now I can visit SGP again...without hearing those special tones on the subway. (and really wish I can get an unlock Motorola Dext without contract from SGP...but doesn't seem possible)
Where I live at least 30~40% of the touchscreen handsets are iphones, the ones (combing various touchscreen models) from the almighty brand captures no more than 20%, and HTC/Motorola/SE/Samsung/LG share the rest.
The almighty brand had been RELUCTANT to release 3G touchscreen phones until AFTEr iphone 3G was released. Now it trails the market in that segment. It may still do fine in the low/mid-end segment.
Anonymous, 25 Apr 2010sorry, I don't live in SGP. Last time I went there about 4 years ago, 80% of the people in sub... moreYes, Indeed Singapore is now having iPhone fever.
Everywhere is iPhone. Offices, MRT (subway), Shopping Malls, more and more people are carrying and enjoying iPhone.
I heard that there are 3 Telecom in Singapore and each have 100k iPhone 3Gs, so 300K iphones / 4.5Mil population = 1 iphones/15 person.
That is a VERY big ratio for most over priced phone.
This Sunday, I was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for shopping with my GF. In shopping mall, Telecom 'DiGi' is selling iPhones in one outlet and that outlet is full of customer. I also saw 'DiGi' (maybe sub-com) is having road show at the mail entrance, but no iPhone offers and not many customers.
So you like it or not, iPhone is killing at niche market, where the money is.

Who makes the most money?
Raw numbers of phone's sold is a pretty useless indicator of how well a company is doing if they are all cheap.
Nokia acknowledges this.

Why I still see more iphones than any other touchscreen device from the almighty brand where I live (not US)?
iphone has been in the market for three years, nokia is still leading the market,
nokia has so much potential to dominate the market and rise their market share by 10% more
meego annd s3 are the good start, the symbian 3 looks promising but i dont comment on the s4 which is not confirmed.
Deep space bar, 24 Apr 2010Nokia wants to make symbian3 perfect with minimal bugs and huge feature pack firmware updates ... moreWell that'd make a change from the half finished crap Nokia have been inflicting on their beta testing users over the last ten years.
I'll believe it when I see it or will they have to do their usual fifty patches before it's even halfway useable.
great!
