Do you really believe they will make that investment back by giving away free stuff?
Google gathers information about their customers and uses it to sell advertising.

Way to much uncertainty, statistics and real benefit seen from mobile adverts. It actually not a very good market at all, it still has a lot of work before it's effective.

As a symbian user i look at this news and laugh my e72 unlimited number of applications out there, i'm not really limited to downloading apps from a fruit company store apple, where i find applications like ifart, shotgun, fake finger print sensor,i blah blah which aren't usefull at all. Many symbian phones come preloaded with all usefull applications like my e72 has a full version of quick office, adobe reader, flash lite, zip file manager and email client. But apple's iphone has none of these applications and that just shows you what kind of users the isheep are, satisfied with a piece of junk with nothing.congratulations to android because you are a way better os and more applicable to daily uses for users who really know the meaning of a modern smartphone.
Jay, 25 Apr 2010Android apps store is free for all and a starting platform for amateur or "newbie" d... moreare you serious? The apple market is a joke compared to android. Ive had both platforms and apss and games on an Iphone are rediculous not only in cost but quality as well. At least with androiud if you dont like an app you spend money on you can try it for free for 24 hours not to mention thefact that anything that's even wrth a crap on the apple market i can findfor free on android. I always love these people that are in bed with their Iphone and think they are in some sort of elite class of people. News flash dummy plenty of people have ipod touch which aside from calling features is he same thing so get over yourselves already.

Haha! good one, made my day.. I have never seen a Appstore that has so many half barely working and fake rubbish made by 9 year olds for 9 year olds like the Appstore.
But i guess you were just trying to be funny.. good one.. lol
Android apps store is free for all and a starting platform for amateur or "newbie" developer to try on their IT application, end up mostly rubbish apps which lead to this 50k quantity but not quality, whereas Apple apps store they are very selective in their app and making sure all apps is not rubbish, i do agree itunes sometime do crash and slow at time but still they give the best apps...:)
woot go android os you are the future! stupid crapple has so many free apps that arent useful at all... most of their "free games" are just demos that pretty much just want you to buy the full version, so stingy and greedy.
Just 24 hrs into Android using the t-mobile pulse,,very good so far..Finding no problems using the 3.5inch capacitive screen only in typing which needs practice..Like the way things operate like getting rid an app off homescreen by chucking it in a rubbish bin..Having trouble with themes as it says to use this theme you have to install something else which being an Android virgin is alien to me at moment..
any medical apps on android ???! anyone ?
Yep, its true that apple do offer some better quality apps but you have to pay for them, most of the free quality apps are on android anyway. But this is damn good news, finally! This year should be awesome for android apps.
I am now sitting back in my chair drinking a budweiser sticking my middle finger up at Apple! :)
I think there lots of usefull apps and games in the market but there is a site were you can download all apps and games for free you can go on this site http://mobilerumor.blogspot.com/ and enjoy all things for free
any one need help on android can comment on gsmarena

Seem to be a trouble for an Android developers.
apple fighting with htc , microsoft , adore , kodak , nokia ..... Android will kick apple.
We need a dual sim , qwerty slide out , stylus input also business phone with dual camera and a 4.3 super ambled screen .... Go htc and android
Does that Appstore number include all the iFart, iBurp and iFake apps made by 9 year olds as well? Nine out of tens apps on Appstore is completely useless and half of them don't even work. There are 50 000 apps that does the exact same thing. But kudos too Apple for iScrewing their fans.
What is this app war for? no of apps dont matter at all. from 1000 apps, only one or two apps are useful.
apps, apple android, winmo and others are just for the rich who cares only about quantity not quality.
best apps are only few in all Oses.
so stop this nonsense of taking over each other and concentrate on quality apps. we dont want apps like fart noises, ben10 grouching or where i parked my car. ppl are not stupid to forget where they parked their cars
most of the apps are gross.
Guys, I have one question that I did not find the answer to online.
Can you change the default search engine on Android to bing/yahoo/etc?
