i, 17 Jan 2016That's good: as you leave fingerprints on everything you touch (including your phone), whoever... moreWhat I am surprised is how people fail to see they leave the marks of their "unlock pattern" / PIN right there, in the screen. It takes longer to unlock and it isn't any safer.
PINs and patterns just can't beat the convenience of a fingerprint scanner. Sure, it's not meant to be military grade security, but it's still one step above your traditional unlock systems both in security and convenience.
No US carrier will even work with Sony! Verizon had to scrap an Xperia version last fall because Sony suddenly came out with the Z5, obsoleting a flagship for Verizon. Sony has failed in all of their divisions if you haven't noticed. PC's went insolvent. Sony tv's are planning a phase out. Their movie business had a major hack of every confidential email, insults and racist rants against fellow liberals. Yet the liberal media and their loser readers say nothing!!! Sony is in the midst of a system wide collapse.
That's good: as you leave fingerprints on everything you touch (including your phone), whoever steals your phone has both the lock and key!!!!
I am still surprised there are people that don't understand that. Well I guess stupidity is abondant in this world...
ha ha suckers!
I think the spooks at Sony US have all the interest in steering this conversation to yet another iPhone vs Android thread, rather than addressing the epic fail that is removing the fingerprint scanner from the new Z5's.
Someone will eventually realize the Z5 in the US comes out crippled, without the most convenient unlock system there is -- one which once you become aware and try you won't come back to sucky PINs or patterns!
So this has become just another iPhone vs the world argument!?!?!
Maybe suggest going back to the topic???? this article is about the apparent absence of the fingerprint scanner in the US versions of the Z5 and Z5C, the conversation should be about whether or not that will affect potential sales and such, the iPhone need not be a part of it.
When fanboys butt heads, absolutely nothing gets accomplished, that accomplishment of nothing then just goes back and forth and back and forth endlessly. Not to offend anybody, but that is the reason over 90% of the comments on this site are just worthless garbage.
FrankDrebin, 16 Jan 2016Are you even kidding? Designt? it changed from 4 to 5, and from 5s to 6, thats it. and it chan... moreAt least they have change the design, n made innovations.
We can recognize 4, 5,6 very easily.
Xperia? If we see people make a call, we cant recognize what xperia they use.
All we can see is glass and the same camera circle and tiny flash placement.
That 'silent' front facing speake? duh, phone speaker are small, single louder speaker is better that silent stereo one.
and water resistant isnt innovation, its there from original Z. And now Z5 still No change.

Innovations? You mean iphone already has all the innovations of the industry? like increased base storage? or front facing speakers? or water resistance? oh wait, it doesnt have any.
those "innovations" you mention are just gimmicks, the only thing iphone actually introduced is the finger print reader, other than that its still a glorified iphone 4s, it got faster because thats what phones do each year, even low end phones.
Art, 16 Jan 2016To be successful, the upcoming Z6.... 1. Must be sold in the USA 2. Must be fully and proper... moreCut and paste man!??

Z3 - z5 prem: new design, new Soc, bigger pix and better tech camera, New 4k screen, capless waterproof usb, better sound system with ldac bt, fingerprint sensor, more main storage and bigger sd card capacity...
What planet doyou guys live on?
To be successful, the upcoming Z6....
1. Must be sold in the USA
2. Must be fully and properly supported globally with world-class customer service
3. Must have no over-heating and no stuttering issues with SD820, period.
4. Must have a better, faster camera
5. Must have a brighter screen...perhaps AMOLED or OLED
6. Must have a good OIS system
7. Must be available unlocked on their own SONY website as well as the major carriers
8. Must be advertised everywhere in print media and on TV
9. Must be priced to sell. SONY phones are way over-priced for what they are.
10. Must have more durable build quality
11. Must have a reliable fingerprint scanner that actually works right every time.
SONY must be nuts to imagine that the Z5, arriving 6 months too late in a watered-down version with no fingerprint scanner, would actually be successful in the US market. If they want to water it down, why not skip some of the worthless gimmicks like 4K, Playstation remote, and touch pressure sensitive screen. Fingerprint scanner is an important feature that is necessary to remain competitive.
Man, SONY is another planet. They are so far behind the curve they probably won't ever catch up becuz they continue to ignore the US market time after time, and then they send us this crappy Z5 with no fingerprint scanner.
Is anybody from SONY listening to your customers, or reading these blogs?
My prediction: the Z6 will not be sold in the US, and SONY will disappear from the smartphone business.
Once again SONY gives the shaft to the US market....the world's biggest, most important, and most affluent market....by sending us this kind of garbage, and sending it here 6 months too late. Why would SONY be so out of touch with reality to think that US customers will buy the Z5 when the Z6 is just around the corner (or maybe the Z6 won't be coming to US, who knows?).
And now SONY drops the fingerprint scanner on the US version of the Z5...why? And then they price the phone ridiculously high. What is SONY thinking? Yes, you can get a Z5 with fingerprint scanner from a 3rd party re-seller like Amazon or eBay, but why would you buy something that expensive with no warranty and no place to go for service if needed?
That brings up another point...SONY customer support absolutely sucks. SONY needs to support their products properly. If I buy a SONY phone in the US (or anywhere in the world for that matter), their factory warranty should be honored anywhere in the world at any SONY authorized location. When I bring a SONY phone in for warranty repair, I don't want to be told my warranty is good only in the country where purchased. What a load of manure!
Honestly, SONY deserves to get out of the phone business. Their phones are always "a day late and a dollar short" on specs and performance anyway, they are grossly over-priced, under-marketed, their customer support is abysmal, and most of their products aren't even available in the US market.
Who is running SONY, and what are they thinking? Does anybody from SONY bother to read these blogs from their customers? Why don't they give us the product we want?
I have waited months for the Z6, but if the Z6 is not sold in the US market, and if the warranty is not fully supported globally, and if they send us a watered-down over-priced version of the Z6, then I am done with SONY. I will buy an Apple iPhone or a Samsung, or whatever, even though I am not a fan of Apple products. At least Apple makes an excellent product and support it properly. SONY should take note of some of the things Apple is doing right.
If SONY wants to run with the big dogs, they had better start acting like a big dog, or just forget it and go home and stay there.
Really SONY....
that's the stupidest thing I've heard on this site ever. The fingerprint reader is probably one of the best features you can have on your phone. The speed and convenience is just no contest to any other unlock method. Honestly, it's so good it's literally worth getting a phone over the other solely if it has a fingerprint reader.
AnonD-166545, 16 Jan 2016Meh, fingerprint scanner is gimmicky anyway. But the article is right, the Z3C is a fine phone... moreYes, a gimmick that is far more convenient than any PIN number, pattern or any other unlock method you can think of.
You literally just touch that button and you are ready to go. Someone else touches that button and they are still stuck in the lock screen. -- CONVENIENCE!
FrankDrebin, 15 Jan 2016I think the international versin doesnt support LTE? correct me if Im wrong pleaseYes you are wrong. They support LTE
Considering Sony's product cycle, it's a bit "late" getting a Z5 now. Might as well wait for the Z6.
FrankDrebin, 15 Jan 2016Seriously what has changed the iphone since the iphone 4s? Other than shape, the obligatory re... moreSorry but like I said before, I not getting into this sort of thing again, have learnt my lesson in that it is useless to try to have the sort of discussion on this site. Android fans don't like the iPhone and never will.
It seems most people when buying a smartphone also sell their soul and offer eternal unwavering loyalty to one specific brand or OS, and will then tolerate no discussion as to the merits of alternative products, so I'm done with the whole this vs that argument, on sites like this it's rule by fanboy.
