M5 has been available in Baltic states since October, and last time I checked, Baltics were in Europe. I own an M5, it had software issues at first (shutdown problem), but lately been OK, and now with the 5.1 update is faster and smoother.
These are great news! I remember falling in love with it's appearance and wanted to see it with my own eyes. I worry about it's price though, being a super mid ranger and all.
Z5 now costs around 520e here in greece so it wouldn't be wise to put a huge price tag on M5. 350e is a reasonable price for it.
Let's see if we see it
Anonymous, 19 Jan 2016Since Sony and huawei and others managed to fix the heating issues of 810, I'd rather choose... moreI'm not really gaming on my phone, so I don't really care about the GPU. What matters most to me is multi-threaded performance to be able to decode 10-bit h264 - and Helio X10 only chokes on the really high Mbps videos, so that's all right for me. Also, the dev ROM for the Xiaomi devices comes pre-rooted, so I don't even need a custom ROM. Most of the other stuff I liked from custom ROMs is integrated into MIUI already. Of course, if you don't like it, then your only alternative are the couple of cyanogen ROMs - so yes, custom ROMs are limited.
FrankDrebin, 19 Jan 2016Well its not just that its a Sony, its waterproof, sony camera and displays are really good, i... moreAFAIK, Sony has changed their wording to "water-resistant", so should the waterproofing fail, you're out in the rain... As for good cameras, I don't particularly like what I saw from their midrange devices (M2) and some of their older high-end devices (Z1C). M5 seems to be decent in that category, but Xiaomi's redmi note 2 has a better noise-to-detail ratio in my book. Yes, it has less MP, but MP is not everything.
As for Sony's firmware, I had both the M2 and the Z1C for a while, and bluetooth audio support was awful. Frequent dropouts with all but the android 4.3 ROM version. Of course, they told me it was my headphones, because obviously, only Sony headphones will work with a Sony phone! I wonder why my relative's Nexus 7 and Moto G didn't mind working with those headphones, at all. (Nor does my current XRMN2).
What the Note 2 lacks compared to Sony is build quality, there are some places on the cover that creak if you apply pressure to it. On the other hand, it has a replaceable battery, something nearly all the competition lacks completely, nowadays. Both have their drawbacks, but the RMN2 is still a better bang for the buck - and if you don't like their MIUI, there are a few Cyanogen ROMs out there for it, despite it being a mediatek device.
You can buy this phone in Finland with 349€.

are M5 and M5 aqua two different devices? if so, Sony recalled M5 aqua here in the Philippines due to some issues. I wonder if this was just an isolated case.

Meditek processor lack in single threaded performance, and poor GPU, and poor ROM support.
phone is good with awesome specs for midranger but price is to high for phone with mediatek chipset you can buy Z3 with SD801 for same price or even less now.
Do not buy this phone. See the USER OPINIONS in the Xperia M5 page here at GSM Arena.

And once it starts throttling down, they're not even considerably slower. About the only problem with the Mediatek chips I have is that there are no official kernel sources, so that custom ROMs are a problem. I think Sony did release the sources for the M5, though.
In any case, I don't see why people would buy this one. Nearly 500€ for those specs? Just because "it's a Sony"? I'd rather go for any of the other Helio X10 based phones for less than half of the price.
if only they'd used snapdragon instead
Its available in Europe right here in all colours: http://www.quickmobileshop.com/search/xperia%20m5--9
