AnonD-463876, 21 Jan 2016This is why I dislike Chinesey phones with Chinese chipsets. Mediatek is from Taiwan as far as I know. But I agree with you there. Xiaomi did provide kernel source for some Mi phones and for example you can get a stable cyanogenmod 12.1 and now also nighlies for cm13 for Mi3 and Mi4, just a shame the both of the devices don't support LTE out side of China.

More cores don't necessarily mean they consume more... that depends on the actual core, there are processors that consume more than others even if they have a lesser ammount of cores.

I still think the Pro 5 is alot better than this.
Exynos surpasses the current MTK flagship in terms of CPU and GPU Benchmark plus customer experience.

AnonD-472174, 20 Jan 2016Hi all, Its more of a question than comment. Does company like Meizu ever update their Androi... morethey do provide an update here and there but since Meizu never releases the kernel source code and mediathek is not much better and also violates the gpl you can forget about any custom roms and any tinkering with the phone. no custom roms, no customisation of any sort apart from the standard what meizu allows...

They upgraded the MX4's 4.4.2 to 5.0.1, and now 5.1, so the answer is yes.
