Honest Realist, 23 Jan 2016lol they should just devote their R&D to something that deserves to be called wireless.:P Correct. I am still skeptical though about the implementation of true wireless charging. I really hope that this becomes possible someday with more advancements in the technology.
So yeah, fingers crossed!

Honest Realist, 23 Jan 2016Same principal applies. With both iterations they are BOTH still tethered. I seems power banks are for you then with a charging base on top ;) Not sure though whether one exists but they should do until *true* form appears hopefully in the not too distant future.

"Needless to mention that you can embed these docks under wooden/plastic tables/beds and can have many of them for easy access in any corner of your room." - Your laying back down on your bed, phone is suspended in the air, so this solution is not a solution at all, it's just a way of making the problem more attractive ;) True wireless charging isn't tooo far off, and only then will it become mainstream. The only other way of it becoming mainstream is if Apple embraces it, which I doubt they will as it's not truly wireless and marketing as such is just idiotic, that's why they don't advertise the Apple watch as having wireless charging. Because the bottom line is it is still tethered when charging.

However, for me, the fact that the current tech saves your phone from wear of charging port with regular usage + its ease of use is more than enough to embrace it. Headphone/charging port, tactile buttons are the only mechanical parts in a phone that gets damaged with a prolonged usage and it is inevitable unless you change your handset every year or two. Needless to mention that you can embed these docks under wooden/plastic tables/beds and can have many of them for easy access in any corner of your room.
With more OEMs featuring this tech into their handsets and its dropping prices resulting in better affordability would only make it more mainstream than it is now, since the *true* wireless charging as of now appears next to impossible - unless I'm missing out on something.

It is still tethered, and therefore not truly wireless. For example, your laying in your bed, your battery is flat, you cannot use it in bed because the dock itself does not allow for it. I don't even consider my Apple watch to have wireless charging, even though it is absent of ports and charges via the magnetic charging dock, it is not wireless.

In contrast, the way companies are offering gimmickry features to its users these days is not applaudable. They seems to be not in a race to be more innovative but in a race to *quickly* introduce gimmicks with no real usage just to be one step ahead in the competition! 3D touch, edge, flex phones are few examples.

Its a very useful addition in modern smartphones. Its a different that now my wireless charger bought with lumia 920 is eating dust now. Neither iPhone nor Nexus 6P support it how sad.
You keep on making arguements...What the h***. Stop complaining. Build your own software and so on...let see LOL!!!
ethereal, 22 Jan 2016I am not worried about Samsung, or Apple or any other brand for that matter. What I'm worried ... more3D touch is very usefull and it will be even more usefull in the years to come! Thats why many companies (including Samsung) already said they will follow Apple on this.... Don't forget! Computer Mice was by many described as gimmick when it was first introudced!

Apple speaks, and industries bend to its will, markets shift towards it as if it had it's own orbit. And I've been saying it all along Microsoft is optimizing all of its software for iOS. Jobs rest he's soul is gone. And a new dawn arises! Brothers and sisters! You witness the legacy of a company who commands market! A corporation above all others! One that will defy natural law by becoming the first ever to never lose relevance in people's lives! And now I prepare myself for the onslaught about to befall me, in my chronic induced stated ;) lmao
ethereal, 22 Jan 2016iPhone 6s is not only about 3D touch right? There's much more than that. Dont' tell me; the only thing that's changed is... (you guessed it) EVERYTHING.
Gimmicks gimmicks gimmicks.
Same as wireless charging (for other OEMs).
Chen, 22 Jan 2016Yes, you can turn it off.. so the phone becomes a regular iPhone 6.iPhone 6s is not only about 3D touch right? There's much more than that.
Im using Office on my iPad pro now. Its such a fantastic experience.
