As an employee of carphone, all it means is that some Currys stores will close, the remainder will be currys pc world with carphone inside. The standalone carphone stores in town centres will still remain. Minimal job losses, all round. The objective is to further integrate all aspects of the company. If you didnt already know the name of the company is Dixons Carphone. That P4U comment provided no useful information lol

This looks like an apple strangle hold.
When p4u got closed down ,they were the only uk store to minimalise apple to insignificance, ie. no big pre-eminant out of balance presence, all android and apple just single phone = single small space area. Apple must have hated equilibrium with android , and samsung at that, as , all the signal providers had been brought into line ( voda ,O2, etc.) so that going into a store was like walking into an apple shop. Then all of a sudden, signal providers withdrew from p4u; and bam, all the p4u sales went to apple biased advetising stores..splitting up the extra p4u sales.
Now here we have cpw withdrawing to curries..leaving the town centre to the apple shop and the big apple billboard crew.
Oo, I do wonder whats going on here..don't you.

How will this affect stand alone Carphone Warehouse Stores? Will they be shut down or be expanded as these new combined stores. I live in Walsall West Midlands and we have two Carphone Warehouse Stores in Walsall Town Centre and Reedswood plus Junction 9 has PC World and Currys Separately both with Carphone Warehouse in them surely the PC World and Currys Stores will have to be merged and one of the units closed down. The two stand-alone stores could be combined and expanded in Walsall Town Centre with PC World and Currys Elements.

Currys, PC World, Dixons, Carphone Warehouse... it's all a bit confusing in terms of brands. Even the photograph in the article has three different names for the one store.

And what is a "carphone" in 2016?? And how many people buy PCs in stores anymore, as opposed to laptops and tablets? Lots to think about!
