Id say let it be in q4 2012 so they catch up with nostradamus prediction of world end due to earth disaster having such a phone behind all rivals. What the hell is wrong with SE always behind competition. What does it take to write thelatest os to a high end phone. N they wonder about their falling profits!!!

haha feggy x10 owners, U SHOULD FEEL DISSAPOINTED, not happy!
Why? Cause by December of this year u should already see a device or 2 with FULL 1080p recording (my bud who works for htc told me that...), while SE is only getting updated to 720p and outdated OS,...well good luck with that,

SE=always LATE!!!

SE knew this when they built the phone

They just never thought they would upgrade it like prev SE phones.

multi-touch is important for gaming most of all

good luck jumping while moving forward when that 4 inch screen can only detect one finger at a time

It's needed for the apps. And you can be sure that sometime this year Google will make multi-touch a baseline requirement in one of its updates. When it does, that'll be the end of the road for the X10.

X10 users better hope that Google avoids baselining multi-touch till they get sick of the phone.

The lack of multi-touch support in the hardware suggests to me a horrible oversight by SE. Sure it makes little difference now, but just you wait til the awesome app X is released that relies on multi-touch, we (I own an X10 too) will be out of luck.

Sony ericsson vivaz was one of my favorite because of hd recording but since the Xperia X10 will support hd also I might wait for this instead, this is a really great up date firmware!!

I'd like to add that I use this phone each day, if I'm lucky I get 6 hours battery. Imagine it with HD thrown in I'd be lucky to get 3 hours. I also use a N900 which I've pushed up to 900mhz and the battery lasts longer on that so come on SE do something about battery life.... pretty please.

engadget used pre-release unit.

and now lets look at the facts:
xperia x10 five months from now / nexus one:

larger screen, better camera, hd recording, mediascape˛& timescape/ multitouch?

xperia x10 five months from now / nokia n8:

larger screen, better resolution, better processor, android, mediascape&timescape / 12mp, xenon flash, videocall (amoled if sunlight legibility is up to it)

xperia x10 five months from now/ iphone 4:

larger screen, better camera, android, mediascape&timescape/ multitouch?

xperia x10 five months from now/ htc evo4:

mediascape&timescape/ slightly bigger screen, multitouch

..AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, IT IS A BEAUTY OF A PHONE.
GREAT PRODUCT WITH GREAT POTENTIAL

Albeit this is a great announcement, but come on; if like me your a hardened mobile phone freak then surely by the time SE role out this update another 5-6 phones will have graced your pocket. Such a high end phone with a great screen like this should have had all this before it was released, and as people know there will no doubt be a new phone by SE coming out quite soon with all these features already which will make the X10 obsolete surely?

how can you call it a great phone, what kind of taste do you have? the phones battery lasts for about 6 hours tops. No multi touch, bad wifi (which keeps cutting off) and the phone keeps resetting itself! I have owned this handset for nearly a month and believe me, its a month too long.

nanananana, thats the problem wit SE fan boys, they think they have the best phone in the market, there a lot of handsets better than these crappies phones.

HTC, MOTO, NOKIA, APPLE, SAMSUNG, LG, make better phones.
