I saw some comment saying that Nokia should be ashamed that Apple uses their (Nokia's) technology to make a better device.
First of all, the term "Better" is an opinion. To each is their own.
More importantly, Nokia patents are not about smooth animations, cover flows, The UI, or anything else that Isheep take fond of in their itoy.
They are suing apple for using more deeper down technologies like for data transmission, GPS, Speech enhancement, etc.
The truth is, the Iphone does struggle in these aspects. There is no argument that, taking away the flamboyant looks and features of the Iphone, any Nokia device is still a better "Cell Phone" than a Iphone. Nokia's manage better reception, call quality, faster data speeds (Browser speed comparisons is not the same) and low radiation levels.

GC, 10 May 2010I have no love for apple or jobs, but to be honest Nokia held the phone market back for years ... more...the nokia n97 id based on the n800 tablet....came out before the iphone.

Apple are a fine one to make patent claims, as they used the apple name from apple records only on the agreement that they had nothing to do with music. pot - kettle springs to mind

Just because theiris not a million games on it doesn't mean it's bad
People have been modefiying it
Some hacked so it runs even faster then it already does
Added codecs support so no stupid apps
Anyone that has mad an app for iphone can port it to meamo but
Maemo is to much for hackers
So they upgraged it to meego since it's gonna be the high end platform and symbian^3 be high mid range

I have no love for apple or jobs, but to be honest Nokia held the phone market back for years with there uninnovative handsets. It seems to me that they have more than stole a few ideas from the iphone (N96, N97, 5630 anyone)? before these models every nokia was identical and boring since the bannana phone (one of my all time favourite phones).

Niraj, 10 May 2010I do think that Nokia has most invest on Gsm technology not in making ui more attractive and S... moreYour right, we have to wait and see how the Nokia N8 does. On paper it looks great. But again the biggest question mark comes over Symbian! An OS that is notorious for being slow and full of bugs. Yes its been around for years, but im not a fan of Symbian. If Nokia can strike up a deal with Android, then they will start to catch up with the likes of Sony Ericsson, HTC, LG, Samsung, who are producing very good handsets to compete with the iPhone.

And of course Nokia will sell more than Apple. Nokia have about 100 handsets, ranging from £15 to about £800 (the high end ones have "premium materials" not premium techology), Apple have 2 premium handsets. Many people who cannot afford an iPhone or dont want a touchscreen or whatever will then buy something like a Nokia. I cant deny, Nokia have a super UI and therefore their non high end handsets sell like hot cakes. However when it comes to in-demand handsets like touchscreen smartphones, Nokia are struggling. Apple with their 2 handsets on current sale, are doing brilliant worldwide and easily have the best touchscreen device.
So you cant really compare all Nokia phones with Apple's 2. Compare Nokia's touchscreen phones with Apple's and you will see a true figure of sales and popularity.

Because Nokia sells 470 million devices/year and apple only sells 25 million?
Pretty much no point in direct competition since iPhone sells poorly and the iPhone users are a market too small to be worth targeting.

There's a lot of stupid people in the world, not sure why a lot of them are posting comments here.
My suggestion is for you folks to read and learn about patents and the purpose of getting the technology you developed to be patented.
Stick to the issue, not on what phone is the best and which company is leading the market space.
Im sick of stupid people
