Regarding patent wars, the implementation of the concept might is different here: as the article mentions, currently smartphones offer a "glance" where you can see info on the locked screen but it will go back off after a little while.
The "novelty" here is screen will really always be on. Think the second screen on the LG V10.
Soo after sooo many years of nokia having glance screen android counter parts are trying to copy it..it good move coz glance screen is a awesome feature...I must have..
iam using now Lumia 950 and lg g4...will def upgrade to G5 if it all the feature iam looking for.hope it has wireless charging aswell
LG, Samsung is waiting on you with a glorious lawsuit so please stop stealing other people work. they filing the patent for it.
microsoft already has this thing that you " havent seen before"
its glance screen could be set to always on, and as its been stressed on in the launching of new lumias 950s
if the phone is able to keep that feature on all time then it must be a batetry life monster.
Anonymous, 10 Feb 2016Always On = GlanceNo.the lg g flex 2 and lg g4 both had glance view but they werent always on screen like the V10 second screen.Hopefully it is an OLED screen.
Probably LG will use AMOLED display on G5. So, there is no problem with Always-On feature ;) No battery drain, keep calm :)

Peter, 10 Feb 2016Yes, get glance and drain your battery faster than anyone else :) MS says it doesn't consume e... morethats some bs! even if i turn off glance, the battery drains the same way! or maybe you tried to keep a picture(which makes it black and white) on the glance screen.
It is nice that Nokia came up with the first glance screen but look where he is today and where nokia LG, Nokia \ Microsoft will end soon. But even can glance screen so catastrophic battery is more than the LG G3, G4, V10. And it still has nothing AMOLED and battery comrades mistake here.
PS: LG G5 Poled display as LG G flex 2 pls LG.
Anonymous, 10 Feb 2016I hope they will never use AMOLED, because it's crap. It burns in.I'm on the same boat. No to AMOLED! :((
