the S650 is slightly above S801 and same tier with S808...
the GFXbench benchmark has test it before. The score speak for themselves.
The 650 will be middle-high range class replacing last year Snap 808 platform but not reaching Snap 810/exynos7420/apple A9/tegraK1/x1 performances level.
Those who has already Snap800/801/805 phone, dont have a single reason upgrade to this one..
Qualcomm succeed on milking the product line..and yet they still refuse to " reduce the chipset price "..
Beware of this marketing trick game.
Peter-B, 12 Feb 2016We covered the S650-powered Redmi Note 3 weeks ago:
http://www.gsmarena.com/xiaomi_redmi_no... moreIt's just a cover of the announcement with minor details.
Forgive me if this sounds too difficult for you all, but IMO the article should follow up by preliminary test result of the snapdragon 650 and perhaps with the 652(for the sake of up coming Samsung A9)
I mean both of these are the next big players in the mid-highend market, aren't they?
Qualcomm is pretty confusing with names. They give it a name, then change it later, then...
Same with S4 and 600, 615-650, whatever...
Only Asus seems to be worse, with the very same model meaning completely distinct devices, say Zenfone 2 551ML meaning (either/both) a 1.8 and/or 2.3 GHz SoC, 2 and/or 4 GB of RAM... That is, at least 4 different devices with the same model number...
Hope it will overcome the heating issue with old Snapdragon series.
Yhien041715, 12 Feb 2016Blame the Gpu dudeBlame the unnecessarily high screen resolution, dude.
If I remember correctly, didn't the snapdragon 425 exist before this, as a 1.7ghz octa core? This naming is also confusing - snapdragon 425 and 430 are both less powerful than 415.
divis200, 11 Feb 20168x0 should have adreno 30 series gpu 8x8 should have adreno 20 8x5 should have adreno 18 6x... moreThe original snapdragon 600 cpu had an adrenal 320, so a 20 series gpu is not out of the question for a snapdragon 600 series processor
nightyknight, 12 Feb 2016ya right, that's why I missed the old GSMarena back then.We covered the S650-powered Redmi Note 3 weeks ago:
nightyknight, 12 Feb 2016GSMarena is so slow on revealing the new Redmi Note 3 Pro with new Snapdragon 650 :(Gsmarena have priority lists. Hottest news uploaded first. The lower ranking news are done at a latter time. Xiaomi is definitely not making into the list.
Another magnificent chip made by Qualcomm, they have the whole market covered, the rest should just surrender!
there is no need to worry, we already have our lord SD810. the most powerful power efficient and well know to other manufacturer for its cool and non overheat features. lol
vimal, 12 Feb 2016Might be ...More chancesIt is Snapdragon 650, review can be seen here, it's one of the best mid range phone out there now.
GSMarena is so slow on revealing the new Redmi Note 3 Pro with new Snapdragon 650 :(
Anonymous, 11 Feb 2016snapdragon 625 in xiaomi redmi 3 pro???? Might be ...More chances
So seemingly a mid tier 600 series (i.e 625) is build on a smaller process, while the upper tier 600 series (i.e 650/652) is on a older process. They should have manufacture 650/652 on 14nm as well. But I guess 650/652 can't have everything, they are already pretty close to flagship SD 810 with their performance and if efficiency is also added to it then SD 810's only saving grace will only be Adreno 430..lol
