How is this any different than a court order for any other confidential document. Medical records, phone records, computer access. Apple has to put up a good fight for show.

There are many things that would save American lives. No guns for civilians. No alcohol would save countless lives on the road. You seem to be assuming that the government wi never use this against innocent Americans. You have a lot of trust in politicians.
This is not about terrorism. It us about the All Writs Act. What is you opinion on the All Weirs Act and its counterpart Imminent Domain? Do you blindly support and agree with the government'do free use of both?

You're country is acting like the Roman Empire and we know by studying history what happens to empires in the end, they fall! The USA will be involved in civil war within 20 year's I'll bet.

I can tell by the way you spell "favour" that you aren't an American and you only know what you're told or what you read. Your real world experience is nil.
Try losing 3 childhood friends in Sept 11th attacks and then see how keen you are on protecting the rights of the these misanthropes that are so keen on destroying the very freedoms they attempt to hide under while you and others like yourself diligently lobby for their rights.
It's OK, you, like many others, simply don't know any better.

Great to see you here :) now I can finally tell you that you should emigrate to Mars indefinitely and do the planet a favour!
The owner of the iPhone 5s may have details of a relationship his wife doesn't know about. It's not right that any government should snoop on a man's private affairs!

The killing of innocent Americans in San Bernardino by religious fanatics is what is prompting the government to put more pressure on these companies to unlock these devices.
Do you really think it's about anything else? Then you are the one who is truly naive. Sure, it'll help prosecute those that break the law, but how is that not an advantage?
Would I care if I forfeited the right to have my mobile looked at by US government agencies if it might possibly mean that it helps prevent these savages from killing innocent Americans? Absolutely not. It's really quite simple. Be a law abiding citizen and you really shouldn't care.
Now cue the rurgitation of how it's an invasion of privacy, matter of principal... Blah blah blah BS.

If the law says it is their business then they will obviously comply, but if the courts decide it isn't, then obviously they won't and they're not doing anything wrong. That's what the case is about.

Trooper, 13 Feb 2016And a company is no longer a company, when it has no customer base.i get ur point bro. fact is every company in any country is a component of the economic system and is fully controlled and governed by the rules and regulations of that contry to comply with and support law enforcement agencies and to provide any detail that they can provided the law enforcement agancy has a current investigation and requires that companies compliance as a legal entity in the country. there are deeper binding agreements between the law and the companies that are founded and regulated by those countries. eg blackberry is being forced to shutdown its services in certain countries due to non compliance with the law enforcement agencies in those countries hence i say it will be wise for apple to willingly hand the details required without even being forced to do so in a court room.

The government didn't give any reason as to why they want unlock the phone and you just assumed it's terrorism without backing your assumption with any info. What we have here is the government asking to unlock one phone that if happened then your privacy is no longer exist and did you stop and asked yourself if they have the phone by legal means then they can ask the owner to agree to unlock it or even get a court order to do so in case he/she refused and there is actually a threat and what if they unlocked it and nothing was there then what.
