Bunyip22, 15 Feb 2016I'm not an apple fan (have owned a few iphones though) but you need to give credit where credi... moreI wouldn't say the direction that phones have taken is actually a good one (since Apples inception in to the smartphone market), but I will say that what they actually now achieve is pretty good.
As for Apple revolutionising phones (for the better is debatable), well, if they had not done it, someone else would have, though it may not have taken the same direction. But we will now obviously never know.
that is really great from now if we seen that mobile tech really fastest growing in the world for now the smartphone are really the essential part of our life. iphone doesn't exit in 2006 but now they are ruling the world who knows what we will see 2026 may be we see another new tech giant raising.........

If apple didn't revolutionize phones with the original iPhone our phones today wouldn't be as good as they are.
Hmm.. In next 10 yrs. I might say "we had hand held devices back then" to the kids.

You guys are the best GSMArena, maked me remember about my very very old but powerful and amazing Sony Ericsson K608 phone.I'm so sad because it doesn't open now ... I think the battery is dead but I changed it only 2 times in 10 years.I'm sorry that Sony and Ericsson are not longer working togheter, they have maked excellent phones
LG should learn from itself what's an actual SELF PORTRAIT cameraphone! And heck this is what it should always be called, f***& this "selfie" manure.
It was cool to have so many different stuff around, you could actually get excited about a new phone other than number crunching, heck even the colors have way less options nowadays...
What amuses me is that these things never had cracked screens, yet people have like settled for accepting it happen nowadays...
It's damn obvious that technology evolved a long way since then, but come on manufacturers, it's no excuse to be bland! You could pack a lot into those cool shells! You'll not know if it sells or nor until you try it again and stop mimicking the others!
(worse still, manufacturers struggle to sell MIMICKING OTHERS, but refuse to come up with something bold)
Haha...no iPhone lookalikes in 2006, since the iPhone was launched one year later :)
Awww man! That's such a trip back to those times. I still remember Sony Ericsson K800 and Nokia N95. That was the shit! I really hope Nokia will bring back the glory years once again. Sony is doing actually pretty good with its Z series.
Necromancer, 14 Feb 2016Samsung innovated passed these years instead of Nokia that decayed in last 5 years. You can be... moreAgain, this is just my opinion. If you feel like Samsung has been innovative then I have nothing to argue with. What I am saying is that how the feeling of great enthusiasm whenever a phone manufacturer announces a new product has lost. I do understand how fast the technology is developing but people, especially "us" who's being enthusiastic or should I say obsessed with mobile phones tends to get used to everything they are announcing. If we compare those announcements into a food, we are all obese now. Again, just my opinion.
still got the sony w810 in my bedroom, using it as an alarm clock and still going strong.
That was innovation!
Now, everyone is "innovating" bezels around the huge screen.
Anonymous, 14 Feb 2016Smallest is ibm 7nm and tmsc have 10nm Tsmc have 10nm but Samsung was the first to have that technology.
