It does sound like a hardcore scam here. The battery alone would cost that much in therms of production, not sale value. They are selling something at a hard loss here, and people believe there's no catch here? I'm amazed if they even send you a dummy device on the supposed delivery date.
Think about it: rip off people 4 dollars. Who's gonna pay a lawyer to get back 4 bucks? Meanwhile rage goes on, people stop caring the other day, and you stay with 100K+ x4 dollars. 400K+ dollars with a "silly prank" that didn't cost much to who bought it. The only ones who'll go all out to pay a lawyer to get the money back and probably get it instantly (cause the company couldn't care less) are the ones who decided to buy like 100 of these to try to sell it back.
If it's a contract phone, OK but an unlocked phone without any catches? Just no.
It's easy to make it look legit on paper, to give the defense minister a working random phone that he'll launch and then have no other unit to sell.
If they'd sell toasters with shit inside, it would be the same result, because everyone wants to buy that cheap crap, to gift to granny or sell with double price... it's obvious.

How are they making money? The BOM alone for the phone is far more than what they are charging. They blatantly rip off iPhone. Apple will hammer them for blatantly being parasites. How professional is this company if they can't even get their media materials correct the day before going live. That's plenty of red flags to ignore before giving a company your personal information.
