No matter how much a troll hates apple, they've got to admit that apple is the best of the best when it comes to support/updates of their previous devices. Aside from physical hardware limitations (no 3d touch on older devices for example), any new feature would generally be available to older iphones, while samsung doesn't even add new features to recently released flagships, fragmenting even more their own userbase. i do not own any samsung devices, but if i own a galaxy note 5 for example, id be pissed off for not having always on feature.

Some paid spin merchant leaves an amoled screen on full brighness plugged in on the same screen for a month , then posts youtube vids, and then he and his collegues buck shot the internet saying its happened to them.
Years, and every amoled and soled in our house expressely call you for what you are trying to implant in the mind of the buying public. Lies.

Ok. I' m wrong about you, you perpetualy exspend the only life you have visiting products you don't like..mmmmm now thats sane, I think we should all really listen to your persistanr backstabbing of samsung. your sooo unbiast.
samsung not known to be upfront with updates but samsung are market leaders for android handsets.. we bet our top dollar samsung galaxy s7 shall not sell millions same as s3 s5 s6
note 5 .. simple basics - samsung sales are driven by individual customers -NOT corporates block sales as with iphones .. ADVICE for samsung bosses-- please- fewer models for the LONG HAUL ..for customers ..
we have been samsungsince 2011 and iphones loyalists since 2008...ONE more request- please 6" screens.. thank you
Haha, the AMOLED screen suffers from burn-in, and they create this Always On feature for a phone with AMOLED screen? Funny. (It will accelerate the burn-in.)
I have S6 Edge+ and made always on feature myself by putting black image as a wallpaper for the lock screen and downloaded a screen brightness utility that keeps the brightness to minimum on lock screen.
(So far i have 66% battery with normal use and screen always on showing time &Temp for the last 8 hours)

Just imagine, 15 years ago when phones were black & white they all had "always on" feature (just the backlight would go off), but now they are "smart" you need to activate the display to see if there's something new. And people don't even complain.

It is showing its age and I am starting to think about replacing it. I made a list of all the features I need and use every day. I totally left the always on screen off the list.
Most likely, this feature is implemented by turning on just one of the LCD backlight LEDs -- turning on all of them would drain the battery too quickly. Most likely, existing Galaxy phones don't have the necessary wiring to activate one and only one LED. If this is in fact true, there is no possible way to add this feature to existing Galaxy phones with a software update.

It doesn't serve any purpose in your life because your silly iPhone can only dream of having that feature.
We all know you're a blind iFan that criticizes anything non-Apple/ innovative/useful.
im proud as lumia 720 owner who already know this feature long time ago
i'm glad to have it on my Nokia N8 which is far too old than all the galaxy devices
AnonD-387110, 22 Feb 2016Useless anyway! Nokia can brag having it for so many yearsUseless until you have it on your phone. Once you have used it, you won't even look at another phone that is missing this feature. This is a must have.
It's the same case as when you upgrade from a phone that doesn't have a proximity sensor to a phone that does. You won't want to go back to a phone that doesn't have that.

Well, the point is that I don't have to raise, grab or unlock anything (I wear a watch too) - when I work on my PC at night, or watch a movie, even with headphones on, my phone is near me on my desk and I just look at it to see what's up. The clock is glowing so it's also handy at night. Might be an useless feature to you but then, you have a phone without an FM radio, haptic feedback, MicroSD, Xenon, file manager or even a wrist strap eyelet, so we're not all the same. ;-) In today's world when makers are removing features and calling it an "innovation" and saying "nobody uses that anyway" there has to be some reason left...

This is What makes me hate samsung.First galaxy s5 then galaxy s6.They are not bringing features to even flagship devices and updates too.I bought both my galaxies from UAE and now stuck with 5.0 and 5.1.1 respectively. If it is a budget flagship like ones from chinese companies its not a big problem. But for a flagship Which is priced closer to an Iphone we should get atleast the update globally for every region, not the regions samsung like.Shame on you samsung.my next phone will be a Nexus 6p or a Xiaomi MI5.Galaxy S6 is gonna be my last galaxy device
AnonD-387110, 22 Feb 2016Useless anyway! Nokia can brag having it for so many yearsAnd Samsung can brag that they have not been a complete failure and that today they are worth more than 10 x Nokia. So being able to brag about having a useless feature first, isn't really a big deal, nor is it an accomplishment.
