lack of NFC wasn't the reason this phone wasn't popular. it was the combination of chipset + usb type-c connector without the safeguards and without actually using USB and the fingerprint sensor.
i see a lot of people avoiding phones with fingerprint sensors as they'd rather not 'share' their fingerprint to a faceless corporation just to get a few kicks.
"The company said it was very excited about the Oneplus 3 and thinks it will captivate interest like the Original One did," we'll see about that, especially now that there are more well known, competitively priced and highly successful Chinese brands.
