Well, give it six months and you should be able to grey import an english language and Google-enabled Mi5 off eBay.
I've been waiting for 2 years to grab something from Xiaomi, but I never did because they only offered the lowest end products in this country. They got my last chance. Show us some good intention with Mi 5 (all models), or else I just have to forget Xiaomi ever existed.
I will probably have to stick to Samsung or switch to Huawei. I hate Samsung (& its price) but at least they treat this market profesionally.
Anonymous, 26 Feb 2016Only China and India market are matter to Xiaomi. No matter how Hugo want it to be internation... moreI think you're right. In Xiaomi Indonesian facebook, I express my doubt that Mi 5 (esp. Mi5 Pro) will ever get here (past experience), and many people are pointing to Lei Jun as the decision maker. Well, if he is really the one, he is definitely not a friend to Indonesia. We officially only have Mi4i 16 GB, Redmi 2 8/16GB & Mipad 16GB. How pathetic is that ? Nothing over 16GB ever gets here. We are just dumpster for Xiaomi.

this is no discrimination.. it's the LAW!
The first thing will be happen if xiaomi goes global, is that Apple , Samsung, LG, and other big guys will SUE Xiaomi for something. I am pretty sure that Xiaomi is mot ready for this , and stay only in safe markets....
Anonymous, 26 Feb 2016@HugoBarra -: Xiaomi has got much of its international attention through indian markets. Hope ... moreMr.Barra doesn't follow up his words with actions,as on 27/02/2016 ,we are stil waiting for redmi note 3 to be launched on march 3 so we can know the day the phone will be on sale after it was announced like 2 months back and this just a mid range budget phone which is hyped like it's their flagship phone, and one should wonder how much drama will unfold for a flagship phone like MI5 which i beleive won't hit indian shores until may, that too they will release it just to compete with one plus 3
AnonD-259759, 26 Feb 2016Basically, Xiaomi just prioritizes the China market. and left others in cold. Even India has t... more,it's like Samsung releasing their flagship phones only to south koreans or apple releasing their phones only to Americans and bringing them to other markets few months later when they sold enough stock to meet their targets in their respective countries
Anonymous, 26 Feb 2016To be honest, I don't like the way Xiaomi distribute the products by prioritizing certain mark... moreEven Redmi Note 2 is not officially launched here in Indonesia
We bought it from local seller who bring it from China
Logic Fairy, 26 Feb 2016Indonesia is definitely waiting! Can't wait to get my hands on that ceramic back.Wake up dude
That's not gonna happen
AnonD-455738, 25 Feb 2016He want Xiaomi to be known internationally, but you only get so far without releasing the phon... more+1 totally agree with you
Bye xiaomi, my next phone would be lenovo or Huawei that sold their phone globally
adeelraj, 25 Feb 2016it means they cant meet international demandsTotally agree 👍
To be honest, I don't like the way Xiaomi distribute the products by prioritizing certain market first before the others. It's really like they are discriminating other markets as being less iimportant, like they're classifying each market based on their caste system. No wonder certain markets think they are just dumping grounds. All markets should be treated equally, without having to prioritize the launch purely based on demand quantity. It's really like saying "you're a small market for us, so you just have to wait longer until we get there". Do they think we are so desperate for their products like we will wait for them indefinitely ?
Other companies treat every market equally, and they launch almost the same time.
They even asked the forum members from each country to vote to win the "lottery" for launch priority for Redmi 3.
Winners:
1. India
2. Indonesia
3. xxxx
What ????
Hai hugo, when the mi5 will be released in indonesia....
vasra, 25 Feb 2016READ: We haven't paid IP licenses in EMEA and NA and thus, we can't launch there officially, o... moresoo true.
Thats a main reason most chinese phone makes dont ever get to USA or Europe.
Gaining cover from international medias by teasing global release: check
Major buzzkill by then announcing "only available in current markets covered by Xiaomi": check.
Hats off for the awesomeness of this phone
Shame on you for that trick you played on us occidental buyers...
@HugoBarra -: Xiaomi has got much of its international attention through indian markets. Hope you guys value it.
Hence should release it in parallel with china.
Dear Hugo, If you make all ur most desirable phones (redmi 3, redmi note 2/3, mi note , mi note pro, mi4c , mi4s ) available in every part of the world, then iphone gonna be number 3, and huawei slips to no 4).
Really Really frustrated of all this waiting. They don't even have any fixed release dates for other core market countries. This way Xiaomi aint be a global company. Sad!!
AnonD-407438, 25 Feb 2016You can easily install custom rom using stock mi recovery. Also you can install dual boot. ... moreoh sad
"Later this year the Mi 5 should hit Xiaomi's core markets" :O
What do they mean by later this yr.. is it not going to get released in India in near future ?
