[deleted post]As long the mobile phones can do exactly like i want them to do, then they are far from being a dumb machine.

iPhone is a very good example on being a dumb machine.

Tom-Helge, 29 May 2010I think you have never ever tried an Android phone with a 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU. Because an ... moreAndroid multitasking is not the same as on Symbian. If Symbian was to use Android multitasking it could run 200 apps without lag. Symbian uses thru multitasking, same way Windows does it on PC. Apps are always running, until user doesn`t close the apps. On Android, OS can close apps without user knowledge if the apps are not used for a while.
"Mobile devices don't have the luxury of swap space, so have fairly hard limits on memory use. ", this is Android reason not to use thru multitasking.
S^3 supports paging, running apps can be moved to NAND memory if not in use by user. When user need app, S^3 moves the app to RAM.

Too much digging. Just look at how flashy and awesome the experience is with Android, Windows 7 Series and iPhone. Sorry. But this thing fails to impress. It doesn't even look modern. It looks so 2005. And 470 euro? Uh, Nokia you just FAILED. This is gonna be the next n97."

You must blind if you say Symbian has too many menus, its not designed for you and you no need to be sad that it hasn't impressed you. I am sure you are one such kid who likes to use your mobile device as a toy, don't come to the place where power users of mobile phones are hanging around.

Because an Android 2.2 device with 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU is at least double as fast as a Nokia N8 in that youtube link posted longer down here.

And the thing that the Nokia N8 can run 15 programs in the background without lagging can be done easily with my Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 to.

The X10 doesn't get any slower because it have more programs running in the background as long the phone doesn't runs totally out of memory. But that wont happen on an Android device because they way Android handles files / programs in the background.

And yes, i forgot to type in my name on reply under. So it was from me.

Comparing this phone to the Iphone is an insult to Apple. I think the UI looks like it was designed 2002. The N8 and Symbian3 is not an apple copy. LIke mobile-review said, a big fat don't like. You Nokia fanboys, should be thanking god that this phone hasn't a navigation pen like the 5800. Also, Symbian 3 is clearly better than every WiMo ever released (WiMo7 is still not on the market). But then again, Symbian was always better than WiMo, so no kudos here. Still worse than Palm Webos.

All these companies trying to resemble the iPhone is just stup*d. And for the iPhone haters get a fcking life. Even you know for a fact that all these touchscreen hype didn't even exist until iPhone's huge success.

The iPhone has set a benchmark for touchscreen smartphones, to a level that other brands have had to make their handsets to provide ample competition to it. HTC & Samsung have lately produced some superb phones that gives more consumer choice in this section of the mobile market. The same really cannot be said for Nokia so far, however the N8 seems to Nokia's way of providing that extra choice.

I hope the N8 proves a lot of doubters wrong cos I really do like Nokia. But again my reservations are on the Symbian OS.

Looks very nice, the ui interface looks its not so important every nokia owner in the planet knows that exist millions of themes to change the interface style and looks, come on!! , but what i really wants to know is what version of adobe flash runs in his browser, lite? Or flash 10.1? , applications out of ovi market exist thousands of good java aplis waiting for u, i think personally iphone has his moments, but his rivals wake up and leave apple behind, any new phone in the market with good Android OS, its supperior to iphone, and now nokia join to that group, so to the. Isheeps wake up!!!

I agree that the new interface looks a lot better. The N97, in theory, was a great phone. It was just the non stop hardware issues and software bugs that finally killed it.

I hope that this time Nokia have fully tested the N8 and then they'll definitely be back in the running. The OVI maps application is fantastic. It was just the poor performance of my N97's GPS that let it down.

Most of the things the presenter did were things you don't do all the time like changing wallpaper and homescreen apps. These things take time to load up but b any standards, the n8 was not slow. 2 seconds is pretty damn impressive considering the impressive graphics being loaded.

Would you trade a crappy app that loads in microseconds for one with great detail that takes a few seconds to load up?

                                        As for me, i'm impressed.
