Anonymous, 31 May 2010In my opinion, you re WRONG! Hav u see the Symbian^4 user interface??? Is great and beautiful.... moreYou really need to read. Obviously you can't find the N8 in 2006 because in 2006 the N8 doesn't exist. But starting a tech / product demo by going "oh look at this! 3 home screen! each can have 6 widgets! you can change the background of each home screen! threaded messaging! smoother scrolling!" "wow" is like saying I've been living in a hole for the past 3 years. As for Android, well they didn't promote the platform on the basis of a round clock. Android has always been about integration with Google apps, open source, scalable. Everything else is eye candy UI and that's how it was promoted. Unlike Symbian 3 with the 3 home screen, changing wallpaper..???

Hav u see the Symbian^4 user interface??? Is great and beautiful..u got to check it out=]
Although N8 is using the Symbian^3 u r saying, can u find out the device u said in year 2006? Here r talkin' SYMBIAN OS..
I also can say about android always use a big clock on their home screen likes g1,g2..
This is hard to explain, mayb the handset will taking over the digital camera one day..
Because camera phone is create by the way of digital cam. principal, here is means that machinery of optics..
At the same thing, digital cam. Also can put the phone funtional into their products..
If u buy the digital camera u will choosing BRAND for example CANON,PANASONIC, etc.
But if u choose camera phone, u will see the Optics' first..n pixels, dunt u???
Likes lg viewty(schneider kreuznach)
But for me, Nseries is my 1st choice..^^
Digital zoom does nothing for picture quality, in fact it usually degrades it, with fragments & jaggy edges.
Why should NOKIA getting on Carl Zeiss Optics lens thats sony digital camera amongst(cyber shot)..try to think about if NOKIA dunt use the famous optics lenses will sonyericson get it to be?? i means on their cybershot pone,of corze tis is an contract NOKIA is the bigger handset company..
But,is juz has news about NOKIA will also use Kodak optics in da future..
This is the awesome camera phone battles..XD
Anonymous, 31 May 2010Hmmm.. MP count has nothing to do with zoom... Zoom is ... well zoom... Picture look bigger? M... moreYou need high MP count if you want to digitally zoom, regardless if before you shoot a photo or thereafter in image processing software.
Dave, 31 May 2010More fool you then if you think you can get better pictures out of a phone than a proper digit... moreI have seen the sample photos made with N8 and they are definitively better than photos from my Canon Powershot IS 2.
Judge Dreadd, 31 May 2010No, this (N8) is the FIRST exception to the "megapixel race". Putting more and more ... moreHmmm.. MP count has nothing to do with zoom... Zoom is ... well zoom... Picture look bigger? MP usually affects print quality.
But I see your point. If you're using say P&S digicam, I can see how a 12MP camera phone can replace it. But if you're like me using a DSLR, then that's not possible.
Not to disrespect or anything, but Nokia needs to get their priorities right a bit. I mean 3 home screens, 6 widget per screen, able to change wallpaper????. threaded messaging.. Is this 2006 or something? Then again, if this targets existing Symbian users then fair enough. Also the hardware is nice. Just pity the OS.
Judge Dreadd, 31 May 2010No, this (N8) is the FIRST exception to the "megapixel race". Putting more and more ... moreMore fool you then if you think you can get better pictures out of a phone than a proper digital camera.
Judge Dreadd, 31 May 2010No, this (N8) is the FIRST exception to the "megapixel race". Putting more and more ... moreYou are saying some real facts. I've seen most of the people who dont like this phone only argue about some nonsense statement and dont do their homework before posting those nonsense.
Dave, 31 May 2010Marginally..
Symbian is rubbish in the file handling department, end of.
Judge Dreadd, ... moreNo, this (N8) is the FIRST exception to the "megapixel race". Putting more and more pixels onto a sensor of the same size is getting old because signal to noise ratio starts is getting worse and worse.
NOKIA N8 is perhaps the first device to use one of the largest available sensors, much bigger in size than in most dedicated digicams and extremely larger than anything ever been used in cameraphones ever before.
So, putting 12 MPs ontpo such a huge sensor will deliver exuisuite foto quality and only little noise.
Why do we need 12MPs? Because you don't have optical zoom. Incorporating an optical zoom has two drawbacks:
1. It will increase the phone's size too much
2. It will worsen the optics of the camera (worsened low-light performance, distortion etc.)
So, when you don't have an optical zoom (and there are very good reasons to not have optical zoom in a camera phone), then you NEED as many MPs as you can get because you will need some headroom for optical zoom.
That's why the N8 is going to replace my Canon digicam soon!
[deleted post]Totally AGREE!!!
and those ppl is always think their ipone is best..better..
I bet it when the ipone 5generation is release, the icon is still same with before..juz improve their fruit camera pixel, mayb HD recordin..
NO FUNCTIONAL upgrade at all..
Ok first things first. How can ppl say this is an iPhone copy. It's nothing like the iPhone. The phone is individual in it's own way but the nearest I can say it looks like is an LG Viewty.
The camera. So many ppl go on about this phones camera, which we know is brilliant. However surely the most important thing is the user experience? The phone has the right specs and Nokia is a powerfull name in the mobile industry, but if a big name fails to deliver user experience to it's loyal fans but instead gives a top camera on the phone, do any of you think that is acceptable? I hope the N8 does well but like I have said before, Symbian is a possible drawback. NOKIA owners are not silly and know deep down the problems Symbian can cause. Yes yes yes this is Symbian 3 but you know there is no guarantee on this OS.
Ok onto haters. I totally agree coming to a forum to slate n abuse is pathetic. But I don't see any reason why people cannot provide constructive critism, like I have done. I'm not being abusive n childish, I'm saying my piece on an open forum to discuss a mobile phone that is of interest. The reason I have posted my comments on the N8 is because this is meant to be Nokias big phone. NOKIA is abrand that interests me and I really want this phone to do well, but have my reservations from how Nokia have hyped up a product n failed to deliver.
Anyway the N8 looks great, let's see how the final product fares in the Market.
Dave, 31 May 2010Marginally.. Symbian is rubbish in the file handling department, end of. Judge Dreadd, ... moreDave just cool, I also wants that after N8 megapixel race should be stop. But the fact is that there is a clear difference between picture taken by good 8mp snapper and good 5mp snapper, even you can realize the difference in the small screen of the phone.. Lets first see the reviews of N8 then say the file handling of symbian^3.
I think u guys totally dun understand whats NOKIA was doing..
NOKIA is most big CellPHONE,MOBILE,HANDSET,HANDPHONE maker..NOKIA has own way to bring the BEST PHONE to worldwide..
Dont u guys know when the sony ericson, samsung made their 8mp,12mp pone..NOKIA did not made it by follow the crap step by another brand..Why???
Because it just technological step bringing by brand, but NOKIA is follow the people whos really know using the TECHNOLOGY..
At least untill now,NOKIA juz made out 1unit of 8mp(N86 8MP)and the comming soon flagship N8(12MP)^^
Juz think back hav se SATI0 bring the best sell in world, not so..

This is what NOKIA say:

Niraj, 31 May 2010Have you see the video of Samsung Galaxy S by Gsmarena. It takes more time to open the gallery... moreMarginally..
Symbian is rubbish in the file handling department, end of.
Judge Dreadd, you've still not acknowledged the fact that people are being mugged in the stupid Mega-pixel race, as I've stated before you don't need stupidly high pixel counts for photography, unless you're producing seriously large prints & 99,9% people don't need anymore that 8Mp, let alone 10,12 or 14Mp.
All that increase in Mp count does is increase the amount of memory used & unless the cameras on these phones are going to start producing files in RAW format then most of the information is discarded anyway.
Dave, 31 May 2010Just adding a Xenon flash, won't necessarily make a jot of difference especially in daylight s... moreYou should read the interview with Damian Danning. There he explains that the glass covering the lens consists of multilayer components that may effectively protect against scratches. Personally, I would have seen a dedicated scratch protector as well, but the Nokia folks did have to find a functional compromise between overall design / thickness of the device and the need to protect the lens.
Many people don't realize that the N8 won't just have a random 12 MP camera but a 12 MP with one of the largest sensors ever used in the compact digicam sector. The combination of high MP, high-end optics and ultra-large sensor makes the N8 a potential candidate to replace many dedicated digicams. This is a paradigm shift and nothing short of a revolution: If you are interested in shooting really good photos then you don't need to carry your digicam anymore, just use your N8. Isn't that great, folks?
