apart from the 4gb ram the rest of the specs non high end by comparison with the Android based flagships
Having read the specs, only the chip is mid range, the rest is high end, not sure what everyone else is on about.
The last time Oppo made a device with sort of high-ish specs was during 2014 using the Snapdragon 801 SoC with the Find7 and N3. After that, they stuck with mid-range specs or lower for their elusive devices (but there is nothing wrong with focusing on that segment of the market, especially for relatively small local/regional company with limited exposure internationally).
Unfortunately most of the comments here are from people who have never owned an Oppo phone. The R9/+ is not designed to compete with more expensive S7/G5 but enter the mid-range market. Oppo makes excellent phones, an OS without the clutter of others and a good camera experience.
Virgin, 04 Mar 2016looks like an iPhone 6Exactly. Not an iPhone fan, but this phone just looks so much like an iPhone 6...
XIaomi Seems better,
Using two Oppo phone, feel disappointed with their phone.

If the rumor is true, then this phone will be a failure as S7 from Samsung.

MAGIC, 03 Mar 2016Unfortunately, if the representatives of the Oppo, do not have at least the Snapdragon 820 chi... moreMy dear, you have chosen the only exceptional phones. A perfect choice. Please stay until April when anymore blame two new phones. After that you can choose from. And i thinking about this option, buy a new phone this year. Your list is helpful. Thank you. But, i would add, LeTv, Microsoft (Nokia), Xiaomi (series 6), HTC.
Personally i do not take any once after rumors. So I'm waiting to see what will come equipped this phone in real mode. It would be a shame not to be equipped with leading-edge technology.
Your speculations of the R9 from rumours & leaks are off by a mile, it lead us to believe it would be a true high end flagship phone with the latest & greatest out there.
What a bummer it turns out to be just mid-range or low-range cheap chinese offerings, better to put my money on better known & established companies.
