Steve Ballmer actually mentioned that they are working with Nokia during the D8 conference. So not a surprise
Nokia must have invested loads of cash into Symbian software an now realised its o.k for mid-range mobiles, but for its Top End mobiles not fast an efficient as Anroid an Apple an now want to really stop Apple getting all the limelight,Nokia an Htc suing Apple for stealing ideas,Nokia should get together with Microsoft an produce the Best an Quickest Software on Windows Mobiles
do you still remember nokia n900 and nokia netbook are announced at the same time?
It is about windows 7 netnbook
I'm pretty sure that's implying Windows for future netbooks (Booklets). The slide must be old too because Nokia does not call Maemo 'Maemo' anymore, now it's called MeeGo.
If it's really presentation about Qt platform and pushing the Ovi store to wider market (and probably attracts more developers)...
Leave iPhone OS, why didn't they include Android in it. It's not like Google is banning alternative app store (or do they?)
actually i think its about destop windows, coz qt apps can run on windows with proper environment installed i fi remember correctly...but who knows...
It's QT running on Windows desktop OS.
For netbooks and such.
Nokia won't be making WP7 devices.
They are not stupid you know.
They have a two-tiered mp strategy: Symbian & Meego.
More than enough to cover all bases.
Who needs another useless new OS, which has zero apps, sucks batteries like a vacuum cleaner and has all the benefits that come with Microsoft?
Certainly not Nokia.
And no, they won't make Android phones either.
it's not windows series 7, it's windows desktop os
QT supports windows platform along with nokia os platforms
I would be surprised that Nokia build a windows phone because I would have thought that if they where to actually build a phone with another OS than maemo, symbian and meego, it would have been android since its closer to what they are used too (Open source OS).
Personally I think they should move away from symbian altogether. I don't think symbian is worth all the time they are putting on it. And think that this OS is obsolete and would require too much change and resource to make it compete with the WinMo, Android, IphoneOS out there. I do think that Nokia should choose a clan in one of the OS previously stated. But I doubt they woul pick WinMo.
Anonymous, 04 Jun 2010In a way, it makes sense. Nokia is absolutely horrendous when it comes to "new" OS. ... moreS^4 being in development even before S^3 has been released has nothing to do with S^3 being poor as you have hinted. You could then say S^4 was also hopeless because, believe it or not, S^5 and S^6 are also in the development process.
Anonymous, 04 Jun 2010In a way, it makes sense. Nokia is absolutely horrendous when it comes to "new" OS. ... moreWhat on earth are you talking about? Symbian is the most successful smartphone platform in history. Have you even tried to experience it?
It outsells apple by 50 million devices and I won't even mention android. Where do you get your facts from?
BrianAW, 04 Jun 2010NOKIA is a steadily brand.. That mayb NOKIA booklet 3G with Windows os.. But if NOKIA wa... moreYou can read the last part of this article to better understand where exactly Nokia is aiming at: http://goo.gl/loMf (shortened URL)
In a way, it makes sense. Nokia is absolutely horrendous when it comes to "new" OS. The S60's lack of success is an indication. I mean how is it in the age of touch screens, Nokia sells more non-touch smartphones? And let's not get into the Meamo debacle. They had a fantastic platform, could have been a viable Symbian replacement and bam N900 is touted as an experimental device. What a waste. Then they announce Meego and everyone is happy its going to be Maemo's successor. Bam supposedly 9 months from release and not a single announced handset, not a proper mobile demo, and the only proper working version is designed more for netbooks. If Windows Phone 7 does become good, it makes sense. I mean Microsoft clearly has Apple and Android in its mind when designing the new OS while Nokia seems to be lost at whether to make it more Symbian, or make it more like the competition. If this isn't true, then fine I guess. After all Nokia still has Meego, even if it ends up delayed, and S60 v4 is already in the pipeline even before v3 roll out.
NOKIA is a steadily brand..
That mayb NOKIA booklet 3G with Windows os..
But if NOKIA want to made a phone with Meego + Intel,Maemo + Intel or Symbian + Intel thats not impossible in the future..^^
They have Symbian in their kitty with Symbian ^4 coming with whole new interface (a Qt based obviously), Maemo delivered better than expectations, MeeGo under developments and already seems to be promising on netbook, development and hardware backed by Intel as well.. Then why the hell Nokia will use Windows? They won't even look at Android and they shouldn't. Symbian is powerful but where it lacks is new age UI. Its totally going to be revamped in S ^4 and thats enough to cheer about. Nokia, focus on what you have, Symbian and MeeGo!
i believe they're refering to the pc version of windows. programs for syncing your calendar, contacts and the like might be what they're talking about.
Nokia don't needs Windows OS, Qt will do all Qt is a ovni's...be Patient.
Thats totally not true n impossible!!!
It juz a noncence topic..
NOKIA is running the SymbianOS for many year..Recently NOKIA juz upgraded and improved their new Symbian^3 and again the Maemo5 and Meego,NOKIA is not the handphone company that use another os for their own device..
If NOKIA really want to release a devic3 that using Windows is t0tally impossible this time mayb ever n ever..
