oh, they forgot to type mobile after windows?
Nokia is so busy with s3 and meego, where got the time and resource to bother windows mobile?
WIndows mobile as an operating system has many years of neglect to counter, before it will be a trusted operating system again. Windows 7 is a definite step in the right direction. Symbian is suffering from in a similar way, though fully features its not graphically pleasing to the eye or finger. With Nokia ability to produce superb hardware, I would like to see them start to produce Android handsets.. That would really shake the market up.. Maybe shake some apples from the tree too!
Nokia dont even know what they want!!!
what's next? a nokia with android?
It's only for the Nokia Laptops...
Obviously its for that Netbook running OS7.
Do not all speculate. Nokia phones will run Symbian OS along with ARM spec. And Nokia Meego OS will do the Intel Atom spec.
Nokia will never, as of now, jump into other OS like Android and WM. In your dreams dreamer.
Windows 7 is a closed os just like the iphone, Android & Symbian are open source, Symbian is even more open than Android, so it would be stupid for Nokia to consider windows, what they are most probable going to do is provide application/software for windows mobile.
By the middle of 2011 the world os will look like below so why would nokia produce a windows phone
5. Windows Phone
HTC will abandon Windows unless Windows phone 7 or 8 opens up its home screen to skinning.
A lot of people forgot to post /sarcasm after what they said.
Windows Mobile 6.5 user friendly? I have used the HD2 for months, what is considered the king of Windows Mobile. Believe me, when I switched it in for a CHEAPER HTC Desire, I was in heaven. It feels like Android OS is years ahead of Windows Mobile!
Trust me, Android is way better then Windows Mobile 6.5. No discussion. From touch based OS, to smooth and fast, ultra finger friendly, much more apps, better notifications, full flash soon...
Nokia (old) + WM (old) = ....... not good. Try Android instead Nokia.
You guys are so quick to jump to conclusions that you completely misintepret this ! !
This presentation is obviously at least a year old. Nokia plans far in advance ! Its obviously pre-MeeGo.
Anyway, its a services & products presentation. The presentation says NOTHING about Windows Mobile. Did anyone read the wore "mobile" there??
It is true that Nokia develops for WINDOWS. This is an integral part of their services portfolio - think Nokia Music, Ovi Mail, Ovi Maps, etc. All these have desktop components - AKA WINDOWS.
Now that that is sorted out, I want to reply to the "Android is the future" monkey.
Do you see a future where there is 1 single smartphone OS? Just 1? So you assume that Nokia, Apple and Blackberry will through billions of dollars worth of smartphone OS development in the trashbin and exclusively embrace Android? (duly note the Sarcasm).
The future will have MORE smartphone OS'es, not LESS. Competition is GOOD. All these OSes will become better because of one another. You might not like Symbian, but half the smartphone world uses it. This is why there is other OS'es - to cater to that other half !
If it was something in the future it would have probably mentioned MeeGo instead of Maemo, for MeeGo would replace Maemo in future phones.
So I think it probably just means the Nokia booklet 3G mentioned here.
I think, that the picture suggests something else - the development of multi-platform applications - this is why they mention web based apps. This doesn't mean that Nokia will embrace WinMo, but rather that they will attempt to create windows apps for ovi services.
They've put so many platforms in, but excluded android... is this an anti-google coalition?
Nokia should focus on an Android phone instead. Their OS's suck. Nokia Android phone would be beautiful!
Read only the last line of the news, and you'll understand that the presentation is >2 years old.
As usual Nokia is completely wrong with its marketing. Future is not Symbian nor Windows, it is Android ! But they are too stubborn to admit it. Same as they did when they did not believe in touchscreen phones, and now they are lagging behing other brands...
Nokia gets complete wid windows...
dis romour is true...
That will be fantastic, Nokia and WInMo, WIn mo is the easiest to use and good looking specially 6.5 and 7. Nokia and Winmo Partnership will rock....
that would be the coolest comination, many windows mobile fans -as me-
can not shift yheir operating system due to yhe experience in it and huge applications amount they already have, and more over the sync between wm and windows7 on desktop is great, and all of us believe that all this phones runnung android bracuse the manufactures do not have to pay the price of the operating system to microsoft -about half of device price- and in same time they did not reduce the prices by same percentage on the open source android
hey!!! As phone Nokia's performance is always best but Windows understands user friendliness better... so it would be great if Nokia would bring a phone that runs on Windows.... really looking for something like that......
As might be expected - two losers team up. Neither Nokia nor Microsoft seem able to offer anything that is attractive in the mobile market on the own. They won't fare any better together.
They've just missed the boat. I wonder when they will arrive in the 21st Century.
This is the whole principle of vertical integration. Nokia announced their plans a few years ago.
Basically we'll have easy to port and update applications between operating systems in the near future and perhaps even one package that can install an app on any operating system in the distant future.
It's no need to work on a windows phone since with Nokia's open approach you can always dualboot or choose whatever OS you like ;)
No one is forcing you to chose an OS or locks you down.
This only goes to sow you how nokia sux. With symbian loosing huge market share, loosing developers' interests, nokia shutting down flagship stores and not having a number one phone for the past 3 years, I don't see why they're not going crazy finding a new mobile platform. Lol. Poor nokia.
