deep space bar, 07 Jun 2010i'm fine with the buttons at the bottom the thing that bugs me is the scrolling ....it shouldn... morepeople never really had a problem with symbian until the n97 was released. nokia worked too much on the physical aspect of it, but the software couldn't match the wat the phone should have been able to do. I personally have never owned anythng besides a nokia (sold my n97 as soon as i found out bell was releasing it in canada, and bought an n900--NO regrets about that)... the n97 was good for dialy tasks, but when it came to doing wat a smart phone should be able to do in today's day-and-age, symbian wasn't able to do it. Now with maemo being such a success, symbian has been redesigned and takes many of the features that maemo has, therefore maemo is now being taken to an even higher level (i.e. meego/moblin) and symbian is now wat the thier day-to-day phones will run on.
and since this isn't an "n-series" labelledd phone, nor is it $700+ (like previous flagships), this cannot be titled as a "flagship". when the n95 came out, it was a flagship, the n900 was a flagship, the n97 was a flagship, but the 5800 was not, nor was the n78, n79, c6,x6.. those are phones that are part of a general series.
100 Moto, 07 Jun 2010Except most of the so called "Symbian" users only use the "phone" function... moreThe N8 is thinner than the XT. you sir, are uninformed.
deep space bar, 07 Jun 2010lol too bad that's only the US numbers i does make sense globaly if symbian is still 48-53 % ... moreyea only us numbers but don't get me wrong i love symbian usability, connectivity and features like the carousel and ipod like scrolling on my n81 but over time it gets less dependable at times no calls will come through and other times it will sleep and i cant wake it up no matter what buttons i press. nokia lost a customer i'm going to android once i hear nokia customer service is better i might come back. because why do i have to call india to pay $25 to have my phone sent to texas just to have them send it back and say nothing was wrong?(this happened to me twice)
Anonymous, 07 Jun 2010Many people complain about the cpu. me too but moto said they will release 20 phone in 2010. i... moreTotally agree more phones to come, but will they have xenon flash, I have been waiting for an android with xenon flash, & this is the first, mobile phone companies do not like putting a xenon flash on phone, even nokia has not put one on a phone for a couple of years (apart for the n8)
Anonymous, 07 Jun 2010that is the most unexciting design ever. it looks sooo... brick-ish! This should be one of the thinest touchscreen phone around, and if you can find any touchscreen device from the almighty brand being as thin as this one, let me know.
gam30toronto, 07 Jun 2010hey guys. I am trying to decide between this phone XT720 and Nokia N8. Which one should i get?... moreIf you want a "phone", get XT720, as Moto's special Crystal Talk technology leads the industry in terms of voice clarity.
Many people complain about the cpu. me too but moto said they will release 20 phone in 2010. if i can compte them it is now 10 phone in the market. still 10 to come includ droid xtreme, droid 2 and the metro pcs one. still 7 unannounce this can be one of the reason the xt720 have 600 mhz cpu. probably between the 7 rest, one or two can have 1ghz and support a 4g.
deep space bar, 07 Jun 2010lol too bad that's only the US numbers
i does make sense globaly if symbian is still 48-53 % ... moreExcept most of the so called "Symbian" users only use the "phone" functions for calls and SMS....last thing they do is download apps and utilize the "smart" functions.
And when will your almighty brand ever make a touchscreen phone being as "thin" as Moto XT series?
I think ill be gettin this baby.
I'd like to see a review, so that when this come to my carrier, make a good choise
Waxx, 07 Jun 2010symbian isn't doing as good it used to be: http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/05/iphone-vs-androi... morelol too bad that's only the US numbers
i does make sense globaly if symbian is still 48-53 % Global market share
waxx, 07 Jun 2010agreed but i'll stay to s60v3 until they come out with some thing that i know works. i'd still... morei'm fine with the buttons at the bottom the thing that bugs me is the scrolling ....it shouldn't be there anymore since they have kenetic scrolling now
i've been 5th user since last year and it's not bad everybody over exaggerates with symbian too much
jazz, 07 Jun 2010i totally agree man, samsung and nokia OWN the phone game, there's no way those companies will... moresymbian isn't doing as good it used to be: http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/05/iphone-vs-android-report-finds-apple-has-three-times-googles/
mate if u have only played with nokia this will make u happy
jazz, 07 Jun 2010i totally agree man, samsung and nokia OWN the phone game, there's no way those companies will... moren8 is their flagship Nseries sym3 device since it's a midrange mass market OS now
MeeGo is their high end line i own the n900 and wow i say that everyday and i had it since march
Lol, 07 Jun 2010I've also used N81. You must be agree speaker volume was toooo loud.. I'm still missing the lo... moreyes agreed but the but the build quality is low. parts are falling off and the speaker grills both fell off. this thing keeps breaking i got it cause my 6800 never broke untill i put it in the washing machine :(. this moto looks to be a good device tho
andy burgin, 07 Jun 2010This just shows the Big mistake Nokia have made announcing the N8 to early, an not everything ... moreEldar Murtazin may be reason.
But Nokia has also promised that they will not release N8 before it meets the customer expectation.
i must say this phone looks sexy.. it looks like a mini table. the glos finish makes it look so professional and elagent. alot of people may not like the asymmetric design, but this design is unique and will stand out from a mile aaway. just look at the nexxus one.. that piece of garbage looks like a $30 HTC touch.. or a $50 lg touch screen phone. its like the world is losing its sense of creativity. Every touch screen phone has the same configuration these days, at least this phone is unique, and personally i think this is exactly the look moto is going for (ie. the moto back flip, that swivel square screen phone etc etc.)
deep space bar, 07 Jun 2010android is mess cause the stupid layers the manufacturer puts on and the hardware plus those l... moreagreed but i'll stay to s60v3 until they come out with some thing that i know works. i'd still be p*ssed if i paid $530 for this n81 tho. symbian just works its slow sometimes but it gets the job done. i probably won't go for a new symbian device until they improve customer service and get rid of that solid bar on the bottom which only says menu and options i think that is so ugly. i'd much rather see MeeGO or Meamo on other devices
Waxx, 07 Jun 2010my bad i mean here in the usa. america is in bad place right now nokia's previous "flagsh... moreI've also used N81. You must be agree speaker volume was toooo loud.. I'm still missing the loudnes of N81.
i like Nokia N8 the fact that i have so many colours to choose from. I just don't like to use a phone where everyone has it and look the same. let's be honest here, many people want/have the iphone but i just cannot get my mind off the fact tht every other person (kid) beside me has an iphone. i want a level of individually eventhough all of them are device for "mass". Now the only thing that will make the final say would be the thickness of the 12.9mm of the N8, price of it (i heard its much cheaper than the n97 when it first came out)
I am using an n97 mini.. it's soo damn slow... and it was expensive when i first got it. but i still like Nokia phones... don't ask me why! on the other hand i like this xt720 too it's slim. i like the bulge at the side (gives it a hi-tech feel). but i don't like the back plastic making it SO CHEAP. and the interface looks cheap too... any more ideas? hata1979@yahoo.ca
