I love Charge Mobil. Finally a data service that lets you keep your data until it's gone. You can also log multiple phones to the same data plan.
AnonD-515029, 15 Mar 2016I've been on DATA only SIM for a year now, I use StraightTalk "Bring your own tablet" SIM card... moreCan't the phone company detect that you're using a tablet sim on a phone or do they not care? And I didn't know Hangouts offered phone numbers.
Anonymous, 15 Mar 2016Why in USA they are charged so much? In europe internet plans, data are so cheap compared to U... moreThe needed size of infrastructure to support 300 million people probably is a huge one. Slap two towers down and bam you've got like four European countries covered with much less people actually using them.
This is awesome and this is the future.
TextNow has had data-only plans for at least a year. Phone calls are VOIP.
i think they got their company name wrong here on GSM... they forgot the " Over" at the front...
Anonymous, 15 Mar 2016Why in USA they are charged so much? In europe internet plans, data are so cheap compared to U... more"Data never expires" its sound like a prepay data. In other cases you a charged every month.
I've been on DATA only SIM for a year now, I use StraightTalk "Bring your own tablet" SIM card on my main daily Phone, I get 2 GB LTE for 20 USD a month (they have 1GB for 15$). Unlimited calls and texts using my Google Hangouts number and I never need any GSM number or anything!! All my friends have my Hangouts number and it's my main#.
Why in USA they are charged so much? In europe internet plans, data are so cheap compared to USA. I get 12GB for 15$ and after that u get unlimited data with reduced speed.
I totally agree ....might as well sign up for T-Mobile 30 dollars plan. At lease I'am getting 5gb and 100 mins to go with it. I swear these companies need to start conducting better market research.
Google's Project Fi has had a data-only SIM for tablets for some time...
No thanks 15 dollars a gb. I might as well sign up for Tmobile 30 dollars plan. At lease I'am getting 5gb and 100 mins to go with it. If it was like 7 dollars a gb i might consider but 15 no thanks.
AnonD-150055, 15 Mar 2016LOL..... 1000 Rs Per GB Data ...... if available in India...!!In Romania there is DIGI (internet and mobile network provider). For 5 EURO, you can get unlimited calls in Romania and unlimited GB's on their 4G network.
>Until now, there hasn't been any way to purchase a data-only service besides tacking it onto an existing mobile phone plan. This is the first time in the US that a carrier, or MVNO alike, offers data only plans without requiring a phone line first.
What? Yes there has. US Mobile (T-Mobile MVNO) offers data-only plans, and there's actually cheaper than Charge (and also on a larger network)! Additionally, many tablet data plans also work on phones. The only plus these Charge plans have is that the data is non-expiring.
@sms & @Trooper
E911 services are mandatory and free on every US device. Even devices that do not have a SIM or have even been blacklisted can place E911 emergency calls, regardless of the cellular plan.
@everyone complaining about the price:
For everyday use, yes these prices are bad. There are much cheaper options out there for phones, some of which even run on the same network as Charge. For example, Ringplus has a 2000min+2000msg+1800MB per month plan for a one-time fee of $20. There's even the completely free ($0) Freedompop plan that gives 200min+500msg+500MB per month.
However, I can see Charge being useful for an in-car GPS tablet or similar. If you have the maps preloaded beforehand, GPS uses very little data, so that 1GB can last ~6 months.
AnonD-407092, 15 Mar 2016Well, that's the same case with voice, when you run out of balance.. :PBut calling emergency services is free, so whether one has credit left for voice calls or not makes no difference. Not having the ability to make voice calls on the other hand (because the sim does not allow it), does.
You should always be able to know where your kids are :)
The only catch is you should not abuse it and give them some space instead.
Innovative concept, I like it, week well played Charge
Too expensive. Incredibly expensive. You guys should boycott your ISPs for providing hugely inflated internet prices to consumers.
Here we have mobile plans with unlimited voice calls (inside and outside the country) and 5 GB of internet traffic - all for 4-5 Euros/month.
Also, 1 Gbps (optic fiber) home Internet connections for 12-13 Euros a month. (unlimited traffic of course)
Yeah, this is Romania.
3 Gb for 3 dolars here :) with option for extra . 2 dolars for 1 Gb anytime you need.
Vodafone in the UK have unlimited texts,calls, 20GB and 1 years free NOWTV for £20/$28.78
US MNVO that's too much guys. :-(
