I beg to differ it is a great phone, with respectable specs given its price range. You should read the comment posted on this topic here http://pocketnow.com/2016/03/18/microsoft-lumia-550-first-us-discount-120-dollars
The phone is a steal in the UK. Wish I was there.
Anonymous, 16 Mar 2016For what? A locked crap with a contract? Not even at 1$ I would be interested Try its factory unlocked without contract ie prepay (i work for carphone)
Anonymous, 16 Mar 2016For what? A locked crap with a contract? Not even at 1$ I would be interested It's for a prepay upgrade, so it'll be dependant on how long you have been using a payg sim... might be a very cheap way to get granny her first smartphone
Obviously, when you equip a phone with a not-so-fast processor, an OS that is "half-baked", and a basic camera setup, you have to sell it with loss at some point. Yesterday's "Asp of Sony xperias" article is a living proof. When it comes to understanding consumer interest, Microsoft is very poor.
Interesting, but it doesn't really affect me. I'm more interested in the Lumia 650.

Aaaahh Microsoft, you could have done wonders with Windows 10 Mobile, but instead you made it one of the biggest tech mistake/failure in recent history. Sigh!
