No IR blaster means no remote control of older Vizio sound bars. Kind of a bummer. They could have at least added the feature in the SmartCast app so an android tablet or phone with an IR blaster could control the volume on older Vizio sound bars. I actually have a new e-series TV which does not come with the tablet remote. I use the Smartcast app on a Samsung tablet. The Bluetooth support on the Smartcast TV's is very limited. Only the very newest devices seem to support it. We have access to 7 or 8 devices and the Bluetooth is only supported on one of them. The app itself is not supported by the older tablets at all (2 or 3 years old . android in the 4's). The app will not turn on the TV (again, IR support in the app would remedy this as well) but does turn off the TV. I assume that the remotes included with the P and M series do turn the TV's on, in which case, it would have to be the Bluetooth support that enables this since the tablets have no IR blaster. At any rate, an update to the app would be most welcomed for those of us using our own tablets and/or older Vizio sound bars. The Smartcast app reviews are poor as it stands now. We have had no problem with it aside from the two I mentioned ... which are disappointing in and of themselves.
