Wow, why all the hate? Those commenting on its looks, have you actually seen one? It looks quite nice in real life. I use my phone a lot for photos, and the camera is what's sold it to me (I often find myself stepping backwards to get more in, I think the wide angle will be really useful), its £150 cheaper than the S7 for the same performance and no breakable glass back, the modules are a bonus. I don't expect to use any, but if someone comes out with an extended battery pack, or something else useful its nice to know I have the option. Surely LG is to be applauded for trying to break the mould a bit.
Bezels might be a little bit thicker than some phones, but having previously owned an iPhone, they look positively svelte. I'm sure there was a trade off with the modular design for the bottom bezel particularly, but there only a couple of millimetres in it.
AnonD-519091, 30 Mar 2016Wining awards is one thing selling phones is another. Lets see how many people out there will ... moreEveryone always claim that this phone won such award in this year, that device won award for that year, and all are nothing but non sense.
If given a chance, I bet 100% of all the manufacturers would rather have better sales than winning the lame ass award.
Note the clever choice of words how he just said "consumerize" and not "successfully consumerize".
True that it is a less attractive mobile , looks rather plain for a flagship device tbh. The battery performance is rather dissapointing too, I might add. One thing I absolutely think mobiles in this price category should be good at. Part from iPhone though. :P
so, how many of you are going to buy the new 900$ lg phone ? the g5 with xtra battery, camera funktion and music option :P it will prob be 1100$ with glasses and 360 cam :P
Wining awards is one thing selling phones is another. Lets see how many people out there will waste money on the g5, at least i am not one. G3 owner.
who cares about modules? that over time will just break down... they should have added their trademark boomsound instead, modules are so stupid design who wants a p hone with modules or IP class that u can drop in water on purpose and it will not break down tell me ?????
AnonD-489437, 30 Mar 2016Let's see how many lg fans are there. And let's be honest, no one else are interested in this ... moreBut some former LG customers (like me, previous G2 owner) are actually upset of LG. I really wanted the G5 because I wanted a lack of home button, double tap to wake, the true "always-on display" that LG has that displays all notifications (Samsung's is a joke - only time, missed calls and missed SMS). But LG released a phone with only a 2800 mAh battery, huge bezels (it's 1.5mm wider than the S7 Edge !) and really ugly design. So I was forced to buy the S7 Edge which has really bad ergonomics (who needs physical buttons, really ?) but a great display and great battery life. Now I have to wait to see if LG comes up quickly with a "fixed" G5, like a G5 Pro.
Only if it had a bigger battery, I would've consider buying it. Well, maybe they saved that for the v10 successor.
