Chen needs to be fired. He took away one of Blackberry's best features, Blackberry OS.
Anonymous, 11 Apr 2016It is android not their os
So u are saying it is cosly because of android ?
Dude there are better devices in the market in half the price and all of them are android..
Blackberry could make really great, Quality devices.
but they should've aimed for midRange segment 1st, get to know the android market before going deep into highEnd masses. That was what Priv was at sd808, 3gb ram & 5.4 screen.
At that price, they were always DOA. Ive owned 5 Blackberry since 8520, & still using my Q10 as 2nd phone. Blackberry pricing unfortunately has keeping me away from upgrading.
Anonymous, 11 Apr 2016Meaning it is not worth being a flagship anymore.. more of a midrange nothing lessNone of the phones since the Z30 have been close to being a flagship. And even the Z30 didn't have the latest/greatest hardware available.
Bob S5 owner, 11 Apr 2016I agree, there not really expensive considering when they first came out they retailed for $89... moreAll the qwerty phones are Chen's mess, not his successor's.
They've all come out overpriced and then have to be discounted aggressively to get rid of inventory.
The Monkees, 11 Apr 2016I think Chen has done the best he can with damaged goods. He inherited a mess... I disagree. Chen has taken a mess and made it worse.
First going away from touchscreen to overpriced qwerty format phones (there isn't enough of a market remaining as most everyone has moved on to touchscreen only) and now an overpriced Android offering.
He's done very little to re-engage what was a fiercely loyal and energized development community.
He's done nothing in the area of marketing.
Now he's going to focus on the midrange market? Does this mean in his mind the specs on the Priv made it a premium device and justified the price? If so, then the specs on their next phone will be an overpriced for the midrange market and sales will slip even more.
He was brought onboard and being paid millions to turn the company around and continue to make mistake after mistake. After 2 1/2 years he has very little to show.
.alpha, 11 Apr 2016I wouldn't pay more than $350 for a new Priv. If I am going Android I can get way better phone... moreAgree, and even Nokia once the will hit the market, if dont take care on prices will have same path of Blackberry.

Why do you bother postingt this? Who cares about these devices anyway ?
Anonymous, 11 Apr 2016It is android not their os It is still their own device.
might be actual reason is https://www.macroaxis.com/invest/ratio/S--Probability-Of-Bankruptcy
It's a great device, but the price is too high.
Once the price drops a bit, it's a great deal for a top end device with top end specs.
The PRIV is becoming more like a soap story isn't it? BB doesn't stand for BlackBerry. .more for Bold&Beautiful.
Meaning it is not worth being a flagship anymore.. more of a midrange nothing less
It's already outdated and with the same specs you can get a device that is less than 300$
Look at the g4 or even xiaomi they have one with such specs that is not more than 200$

mir, 11 Apr 2016Blackberry needs competent leaders.I think Chen has done the best he can with damaged goods. He inherited a mess...
Man they are dumb, they expect people will buy a blackberry device at such high price...
Well that's how you dig your own grave.
