nightyknight, 11 May 2016Because ASUS marketed it as an affordable flagship and it managed to lure those 1st-time buyer... moreThat is depend on the region I assume. Since nearly all zenfone user I know are satisfied using it (around 8 of 10, started from 4, 5, 6 era to 2 era). They are ranged from first time users, switching users (from other Android devices), and repeat order (buying them second time, in case of upgrading from 1st gen to zenfone 2). I don't know the overall impression worldwide though.
And for a side note: Most of the people I know are upgrading to the 2 Lasers variant (ZF Laser, ZF Selfie, etc) which use SD instead of Intel. Although most reason are laser auto-focus feature (only fraction of them actually considering SD vs Intel thing).
Aslipundit, 10 May 2016wondering how they managed to sell millions of them? Because ASUS marketed it as an affordable flagship and it managed to lure those 1st-time buyers. However, the feedback is negative 5 out of 10 people from what I observed.
As mid-top range phone become more competitive nowadays, I believe people will not rush for the same series without a proper comparison.
Only buying it if it comes with an Intel soc. Dont want another one of a million Qualcom/Mediatek powered handsets out there. The price vs performance ratio for the Zenfone 2 was fantastic.
diegol, 09 May 2016I guess ZF3 will have a Snapdragon 820, right? And continue with 4GB RAMI'm hoping it'll be 820 like the chipset in Mi 5. Though it will make the phone a little bit expensive. If I'm not mistaken.

Daniel Ghita, 09 May 2016idk, didn't intel quit the smartphone area?IMHO, I think no. because Intel has Cherrytail based Airmont Core with PowerVR GT7600 and 14nm size
Daniel Ghita, 09 May 2016idk, didn't intel quit the smartphone area?me also wanted to ask same question ?? Really wondering now?
Anyways hoping for a good phone this time with low price, also for a better battery and optimizations.
anasela, 09 May 2016Will the Zenfone 3 use Intel or Snapdragon chipset? idk, didn't intel quit the smartphone area?
Who should buy this phone? Zenfone2 after 1 year of selling still use the same Lollipop OS, and there is no hope to upgrade to Marshmallow. The build and technological principles of zenfone 2 are good but the quality and the OS implementation are far for reasonable. So, for me Zenfone3 is not an option. And if is Asus and Intel business i will not count on that Snapdragon 820 :)
They should put a Snapdragon 820 chipset instead of a cheap Mediatek processor
I wish it would bring killer specs like a snapdragon 820 and 4gb of ram
the chipset should have been least MSM8992 for zenfone 3 and affordable.
I Thought intel dropped smartphone soc like broxton? Dont tell me a core m on a zenfone 3 haha that would be nice then a powervr 8xt or 7xt. Well a man could dream.
Anonymous, 08 May 2016I can tell you one thing for sure: zenfone 3 isn't launched yet..Well, I second to his comment if follow the previous trend from zenfone series. Asus never able to make a decent phone since using Intel for their top range.
