what a lame excuse... apple cannot justify their failure by telling consumers that other companies have the same problem too. come on STEVE... I expect more of that from you. If apple has to live with it's standard, they have to do better than that. tsk tsk tsk....very childish.
Anonymous, 19 Jul 2010The 3gs probably wont come down in price as apple just dont do price reductions, you will more... morehow right you are, the 3gs is going what us folks in the phone business call end of life. in other words, they will not be available in shops in a very short amount of time, so that means customers who actually like the iphone and are thinking of trading up, keep youre 3gs in a safe spot in case you find the 4 just isnt youre cup of tea, cuz by the end of the year they will be incredibly difficult to find. oh and yeah prices are not going down much, the 32gb is now worth $1080, in australia, while the 16gb is $920. they dropped by no more than $80. sorry to dissappoint those that like them, but if you like youre 3gs stay with it.
Frankly speaking, most of the consumer doesn't care about signal strength or occasional drop calls. As long as the QOS is in the acceptable range (What level?? Depends on individual), user will generally tolerate it.
Nokia, Samsung, HTC, RIM can say whatever they want .... It will generally not affect the sales of Iphone4. Why??? Apple is very good in their marketing skills, they will brainwash to telcos to sell their products by emphasizing on their advantage (App store, itune .... blah blah). The telcos help them to push the products which they will ... becos the Iphone phenomena has generated large 3G traffic which help the telcos make millions and billions.
In today's marketing of the cellphone, emphasis is not on the technology in the cellphone(how good is the signal level, battery life, voice quality...) but in the content it can bring to the user.
Contracts has been lock in. Telcos already placed the orders ... no more backing out ....telcos will push for sales and Iphone will continue to sell.
Until some telco stands out to say .... "I am not selling Iphone4" the Iphone will continue to sell sell and sell.
Well this is not that big trouble for apple right now, but if you read the news about Nokia and Siemens have bay American Motorola Network equipment...lol, now apple got even bigger problem, apple will be dependent on nokia, but then apple have to pay licensing and earlier copy-cat nokia technology in order to maintain in position..., otherwise goodbye apple with it's iphone and ipad products as nokia can block this products from connecting to it's network nokia have bay from Motorola!
To bad for apple ish.... lol.
Anonymous, 20 Jul 2010This is Apple's competitors chance to attack Apple. Leaving Apple alone in the battlefield de... morewhat?are u saying that all cellfone manufacturers have the same antenna reception issues with apple iphone?you must be STEVE JOBS to say that..there maybe signal reception problem in other handset but not profound like iphone 4..my 7 year old nokia 3210 beat ur iphone 4 for signal quality..point others for you fault is the act of cowardness..0.55 percent complains are ample enough to do a recall.its the highest percentage in recent mobile history that ever recorded in span of 3 weeks aftr a product launch..
ezekiel_zick, 20 Jul 2010Wuahahaha..! Apple is in Big tr0uble N0w..! Shame 0n them.... jjsoviet, 20 Jul 2010I have this feeling that my 4 year-old RAZR V3 has better reception than the iPhone 4. Serious... moreHow can you say that when iphone4 users are happy with their purchase?
It's even better than the 3gs' reception and call quality. The media totally exaggerated on this issue, and non-iphone users who hate the iphone are the ones whining about it.
Anonymous, 20 Jul 2010This is Apple's competitors chance to attack Apple. Leaving Apple alone in the battlefield de... moreYou gen get signal reception meter bars to drop on any phone. You get dropped calls only on one, in 2010 it's a really rare thing.
Apple - such a sore loser. Drags other ppl into the pit but got back fired. Apple with a bad worm.
This is Apple's competitors chance to attack Apple. Leaving Apple alone in the battlefield defending an issue that all cellphones suffers from.
None of them are denying Apple's statements about phones having weak spots. Their replies are all brags about how carefully they designed their antennas, which Apple never questioned in the first place. If they're honest themselves, why can't they just agree with Apple that antennas having a weak spot is a mutual challenge in the mobile phone industry? Instead, they all gang up on Apple and avoid denying Apple's statement.
Wuahahaha..! Apple is in Big tr0uble N0w..! Shame 0n them.... They Can't Face there 0wn mistake... They als0 want 0ther c0mpanies t0 be inv0lved in this issue s0 that n0t every0ne will blame them... Hahaha..!
Michael, 19 Jul 2010Samsung says 'while iPhone's antenna is on the lower left side of the device'.
That is NOT ... moreThe antenna design is totally flawed when you allow a user to touch the antenna.
Who is that RF engineer who design this antenna?? He should to be fired by now!!!! Why Steve Job believe in him and still shielding him.
This Apple Iphone4 incident will become a good case study for RF engineers.
phyne, 20 Jul 2010when the 3gs came out, it was respectable, what's not, iphone 4, what's worse, now we see stev... moreWhat about the way the other companies aren't denying it.
They can't because Apple spoke the truth.
[deleted post]So go get an HTC phone with the antenna right next to your head, or an iPhone 4 where the antenna is located at the base of the phone away from your head.
I have this feeling that my 4 year-old RAZR V3 has better reception than the iPhone 4. Seriously it even works underground.
You're doing it wrong, Apple.
the Apple Company produced the iphone killer itself which will end the iphone phenomena....i forgot to say it's iphone 4 (icrap 4)..hahaha
bricked, 20 Jul 2010A fair comment. The 3GS is a great device, and despite the advances of the 4, I think a lot... moreI like the idea of the iPhone, an all-in-one, but am leaning now towards Android. Have been using older Motorola phones (yes, previous comment was mine)
