AnonD-310993, 14 May 2016After S series i had never seen good camera in xperia devices.M4, M5 are pretty good IMO. Z5 isn't that bad either...
May be a good move, but these X trio reminds me the Xperia S, P & U in 2012. But those trio had much differences in terms of price and specs, but X trio don't have much differentiation, specially X vs X Performance.
In my view, those 2012 trio had clear market segmentation, flagship, mid range & economy. 2016, It looks, Flagship, Semi-flagship & Semi-mid range. No idea about Sony's new strategy.
My Advice for Sony,
Reduce the initial launch price, or launch your flagship before Samsung S series (Similar to the launch of Z before S4). If not, Use better chipset than the S series, If you are to launch 3-4 months later (S5 used SD801, 6 months later Sony launched Z3 with the same chipset, where S5 was much cheaper during that time).
Chipset is not everything, But it's the heart of the phone and that's the main upgrade every phone gets and most of the people look for it 1st in the spec sheet.
Using the same hardware of March in September and pricing it to March's launch price makes no sense, it only shows the stupidity of your marketing/pricing strategy.
AnonD-286474, 14 May 2016So its just the names that have been killedSome streamlining is also in place. Fewer models released per year, more in-house designs instead of ODM productions (note that there is no info on which ODM is making the Xperia M Ultra and Xperia C6). There is also talk of reducing ODM cooperation, meaning that Compal might get the boot this year (Sony has exited the budget phones market, so no more E series either).
Alien, 14 May 2016Frankly, I wish they didn't make the back cover out of metal. I have XZ and I love the glass b... moreWay to bankrupt them even more then. You sure fooled them, they should have been better and more knowledgable. What then should you call that? Some good, better, great, amazing service for getting a brand new phone replacement amidst the lying on your end of the bargain? Or they just did not want to cause any more drama that could possibly escalate into a lawsuit at or against your will? Do they not have some diagnostic tools/apparatus to check? But maybe one could not fool Sammy that easily that could be why one would be left with no other options but to purchase a new unit from them
i don't see what problem sony is dealing with...
they create the sensors that even the "phone king" iphone uses. their walkman tech is legendary. as OS, their ui was minimalistic, a bit bland true, but had great little softwares.on my Z1 i used only the walkman app with its inbuilt track-id thats on par with soundhound or shazam. the gallery app was just stunning, i loved showing it off to my pal who has s3 and s4. then the outdoor performance of the camera was super, thought the indoor shots was full of noise, most of the people tend to use filters when posting them on fb/instagram or similar websites and noone wants to blow those pics up to billboard size. and with all this the ram never needed clearing even after plaing multi gb games from gameloft or such.
unfortunately the screen broke(a belt buckle fell on it :'(... ) then all the problems started...z1 was a flagship, now at the service centre they should have atleast the courtesy to give my a bareback phone while they repaired it. after 3 months of wait, they said that i could not have my screen replace apparently and needed a replacement, the asked for about 300$...i really wanted the z1 back so i said ok, after 1 more month they said that they can give a phone at 330 buck but that will be refurbished...so what happened to the original 600$ i shelled out for this?? nothing...either pay for a refurbished phone or get lost(well they didn't say it verbatim but thats the gist)...never ever ever going back..have gone sammy/lg/..even went asus(600$ don't grow on trees..so asus)..now gonna get an s7 edge...maybe..bye bye sony the only thing you do correctly is(hmm..maybe that should be a was too) Playstation
Anonymous, 14 May 2016What innovation?
Camera hybrid predictive autofocus, 0.6 sec camera shot, highly adjustable auto shutter, qnovo battery. Ips neo lcd,, xperia ear, agent, projector..
Tons of it...
Anonymous, 14 May 2016If they sell phones that cheap, they will loose money even if it sold like hotcakes. But then at least they get to boast having legit sales maybe even surpassing those of the Chinese brands even though they marginally profit from them
Would have been a good move by Sony had they even put any effort in to the new X Series.
Too bad X is inferior to its predecessors.
Tann Hauser, 14 May 2016A good refreshing move.
Keeping up top quality and innovation too..
Sony :-) What innovation?

Seems an experimental mover from sony to prioritize towards X Series!!!

Sony is better to concentrate on the features of their phones, not their names...Z,x,y,doesnt matter.Sonys mobile division is half dead,Sony still alive only, because of the Playstation sales.Their flagship phones offer waterproofing, and a nice design, for an astronomical price.Thats all.Compare it to an S7,or a G5,they are offering much more features, and they are CHEAPER...Joke...They have to cut their prices,if they wanna compete with their rivals. They have to some compromises, otherwise they not gonna survive.
Frankly, I wish they didn't make the back cover out of metal. I have XZ and I love the glass back. Had it for almost 3 years now and it never broke and I kinda dropped it a few times that I thought it won't survive. Not a scratch!
But I'm still planning on buying the X Performance ;)
As for the people complaining about service: I've bricked my first XZ in the first week trying to root it. It was my mistake and I know what I did wrong (I've installed a wrong module for Xposed Installer without recovery - still don't have recovery on rooted XZ).
Anyway, I went to the service center and told them I left it charging over night and the next day it was dead. I guess I bricked it so bad they couldn't tell so they gave me a brand new one. No extra money, nothing! They just asked me if I used it under water.
So quit lying that it has bad service!
If it were Sammy, I would of had to buy a brand new phone.
