Crossy, 17 May 2016What the actual ****? So the z2 wasn't a game changer??? How little you know about phones buddyZ2 is a great all round phone but it was not a game changer.
Hi res audio was the only thing new but not revolutionary.
To be a gamechanger, it has to be revolutionary.
2007 iPhone changed the whole mobile phone industry forever.
2010 iPhone 4 (retina display)
Any other revolutionary stuff i have missed, feel free to add.
NoteUser, 16 May 2016In all honesty, Sony Mobile needs to make way for other brands that want to be successful, the... moreLMAO you call yourself a Sony Ericsson fan and you don't even know its game changing phones up till now? You know what separates Sony from all other OEMs? Durability, practicality & usefulness and last but not the least is design (which, now everyone copies from Sony & Apple) and let me tell you even Apple (Steve Jobs) wanted a phone like Sony's back in the days when they were making designs for the new Iphone 4 (Go search about Project JONY).
Xperia is more practical, durable and so light & fast plus the battery life is amazing. I just switched to the Z5 after a 3 year long use of Xperia SP (which is still going strong) and before that i was using the SE Xperia Neo V (which is still alive and going strong).
Try learning a thing or two about the company you used to love and stop bashing on baseless points, if you have ever used their flagship then come talk to me, otherwise, this dose i just gave you, is enough for you, i guess.
Crossy, 17 May 2016What the actual ****? So the z2 wasn't a game changer??? How little you know about phones buddyZ3 and XP mid Ranger are excellent cells that have placed Sony in premium brand category unlike shame company and Low end throw aways 1St year brands. Only decent competition is Iphones, Apple.

Anonymous, 16 May 2016still concerned about their battery life.. even Lenovo entry-level phones has 3000 mAh up to 4... moreAll on paper yes but that's usually what you get on Low end cells... High specs but poor performance with Low price! Hehe
Well... the major issue with current Sony X line is the price.
I can understand why Sony Cyber-shot RX10 III costs an arm and leg, it is an unique product even though similar and cheaper products exist. Looking at X series phone line, it is quite hard to find something that justifies the price.
I have a Z5 Compact, it is a rare, dying breed of small, but powerful phones that seems to be vanishing from the markets. Sony sure 'taxes' a premium on their devices, but if not making anything to worth the price, even the most hardcore fans will go away...
In the end, if a set of phones works well for their intended use, it will always be a budget (and looks, I guess) matter when deciding what device to pick.
Good luck Sony... You'll need it :/
Tann Hauser, 16 May 2016Ah, no use...
Believe what you want sammy loverSuch a "Sammy lover" I am typing this on my iPad Air 2, thanks for a good laugh kid, you are clueless personified :)
Sony really need to work on getting rid of Sony Mobile, all these restructures are costly and have not gotten them anywhere. Seems this move is part of slowly slimming the range down and making Sony Mobile small and manageable enough to be sold.
still concerned about their battery life.. even Lenovo entry-level phones has 3000 mAh up to 4000 mAh
Tann Hauser, 16 May 2016Hello there lex...:-)
Your typicall bull I see :-)
Go count sony bashing comme... moreI really have no idea what most of that gibberish you just spouted is supposed to mean.
What I do know is that you are not going to be happy until everyone thinks like you, and boy are you vocal about it!
And its a bit rich that you 'Captain Sony Only' himself would call anybody else one sided. You are the most one sided commenter on this site by far.
Lex79, 16 May 2016No Tann, you'll give us your opinion on what a Sony can do that a Samsung can't.
Meanwhile,... moreHello there lex...:-)
Your typicall bull I see :-)
Go count sony bashing comments in 5his 9ne sony related thread, and then please count my repliance "bashing" comments...
You can do math, cant you?
sony bashing to samsung bashing = 10 to 1...
As always, totally unrealistic one sided comment from you...
Love it! B-)
NoteUser, 16 May 2016In all honesty, Sony Mobile needs to make way for other brands that want to be successful, the... moreI am sorry, I am not Sony hardcore fan, I try 3~5 Samsung phones and 1 Sony Ericsson before I have my Z2, the all Samsung phones really crap, so I realize I must not follow other people and I bought the Sony Z2, it is a nice phone.
I have review the Z5 camera it is very impressive! I think S7 and S7Edge are good too, but the Z5 have more pixels and I check the details is plenty picture quality is very2 good too, so I don't know why you still want to mention the Sony Ericsson, But I found this case happen to every troll, could you please have any new idea on trolling?
[deleted post]In all honesty, Sony Mobile needs to make way for other brands that want to be successful, their phones are average at best these days, they should stick to making Mobile Camera Sensors and selling them to Samsung, Apple, LG etc.... Companies that know how to get the best results with them.
I was a hardcore Sony Ericsson fan, going back to the SE P990i days, even owning the rare W900i, but since the Xperia Arc, they have not made anything game changing, its a shame. Explains the constant poor performance.
iron wolve, 16 May 2016when sony go bankrupt pls give samsung a chance fellaFor normal consumers, they won't wish any brand bankrupt, they're only the COMPETITORS hope Sony bankrupt. So, they trolling in many kind of way.
Tann Hauser, 16 May 2016Did you....just reply to me with a samsung marketing stunt?!
I can tell you alright, what a... moreNo Tann, you'll give us your opinion on what a Sony can do that a Samsung can't.
Meanwhile, back in the real world people should accept that there are pro's and con's to all devices regardless of oem, and yes that does include Sony.
See if you weren't so busy both incessantly attacking everyone that critiques Sony and their products, whilst yourself doing nothing but bashing and slaging off every oem that isn't Sony, you might adopt a more balanced prospective.
Gsmarena's posting rules state quite clearly: 'No basing - deliberately and repeatedly bashing the same brand'
Based on all the cr*p I've read from you, particularly towards Samsung, it's a wonder how the moderators keep failing to uphold that rule as far as you are concerned, they're quite on the ball regarding everyone else it would seem.
Tann Hauser, 16 May 2016And no, its mass production that sells samsung, not good devices.
Its just the numbers.
You ... moreNone of what you said is backed up by any facts, I guess its the reality distortion field you're in.
If Samsung fabricated any false results they wouldn't be making the Billions they are making.
Again, for Samsung to start making phones people will actually buy they had to do heavy R&D, they didn't just wake up selling a whole lot of phones, and the ongoin R&D helps make more phones consumers want.
You are truly a Sony Apologist, instead of accepting that Sony has not made a good device since the Xperia Arc, you make every excuse as to why Samsung and the others CONTINUE to bury Sony's dead mobile division, lol, are you by any chance the MD of Sony Mobile? It would explain why there are constantly rumours of Sony wanting to sell what is a sinking Dingy (Sony Mobile) , its nothing but dead weight.
iron wolve, 16 May 2016rethink what phone can do babyDid you....just reply to me with a samsung marketing stunt?!
I can tell you alright, what a samsung phone cant do, but xperia can.
Whilst you cant name anything sony phone cant that samsung can. ;-)
Sony is make believe. ;-)
Heck, even some chinese flags can do more than overmarketed samsung phones.
Just a few comments based on the first few posts I've read....
OLED vs LCD power efficiency is dependant on screen image; all black, victory to OLED, all white, victory to LCD
OLED pixels light individually to render colour, white requiring all on, (black is all off), LCD having a backlight, white is all pixel 'gates' open, black requires all three colour channels to be closed (hoping to stop the light getting through).
Good and poor examples of both technologies exist. Flagship phones usually have the best parts so- 'moot' argument.
Sony have Research and Development in many areas that benefit, when the company ethos allows it, products like the Z series phones.
Eg the z3 had a dual dac arrangement (check if this is right, I am going from memory) outboard to the System on a Chip (like the htc 10 does, though single dac, yes?)...
The dac inside of snapdragon chipset is utter garbage, by comparison, to audiophiles (not a dirty word), who recognise that the Sony z3 was one of the best phone audio devices out there.
Sony audio engineers came up with 'solder recipe's' when lead was outlawed. Took about forty attempts to find a solder that 'sounded right'. This is passion. This is Sony.
Hey I use a Note Edge, Samsung Fit watch, and a range of supporting accesories (official flip covers etc). This represents a big total investment.
They have dropped product support very quickly in an attempt to force sales of new products.
If I was a loyalist to any brand, it wouldn't be Samsung.
Loyalty needs to be earned.
Most every Samsung product I have - have small to major issues ... Some intentional (marketing BS to garner sales over competition), others hopefully just accidents, otherwise I would label them a 'planned obsolescence' company.
The hard thing about doing a product right... No ongoing sales until said part fails, ideally a long long way down the track.
These companies need word of mouth to promote, as their sales numbers may not indicate their true worth.
(I shouldn't stick up too much for Sony, as in some of their divisions and product lines I have considered them the masters of planned obsolescence... And I am presently in a huge argument with their support over a factory recall they lost,..) (none of that being Sony Mobile)
