xxxxxx , 22 Jul 2010any phone will drop bars on at&t, try this on verizon & this will change the game.Exactly.  Weak at&t signal is also the cause for the ip4 signal bar drop.  If they switch to Verizon, ip4 wouldn't have this problem either :)

Anonymous, 22 Jul 2010Your samsung captivate is still not as thin as the ip4 :) And it lost to the ip4 in the Phone ... morefact of the matter is captivate and i9000 are right up there in specs and at 9.9 they could even make it at 9.3 if they wished without having to switch to an external wrap around antenna and you can hold it whatever way you like without having to put a bumper on it.

Apple have suddenly become real DUMP! What this video proves is that Nokia never completely lost the signal, which means you'd still be keeping the call alive if you held the phone that way and won't drop as it does on the iphone4. Holding the iphone4 that way, which I tried myself, makes you lose signal pretty quickly. I could never replicate that in the same location with the other phones I have (2 Sony Ericssons and a Nokia 95). My friend with iphone4 is getting a bumper case, without which the phone is almost unusable in his area (which has a below average signal strength already). He was ok using iphone 3gs in the same area.

I know Apple have taken aim at the N97 Mini but I just tried it on my standard N97 and there was no loss of signal. Maybe my N97 is "perfect" Mr Jobs!!! :P

PIRATE, 22 Jul 2010The problem is all ur info is from the conference itself and respectfully from Job's Info, but... moreI'm an ip4 user. I should know the ip4 experience.

The problem is, you're not even an ip4 user and you simply base your reasoning on what you read out there without getting first hand experience.

How can you say that a case will only solve the problem temporarily?  As long as you have that case on, you're fine.  I should know because my ip4 has a case.  If you do not like to cover your phone, then don't.  You obviously don't have the ip4 so having a case should not concern you.  Put it this way buddy.  If this reception problem is such a huge deal for users that it cripples thier communication, let them return their ip4.  But they're not.  And don't be misled with those complaints that you see on the internet.  A lot of them are non-iphone users.

Let me repeat.  We can make and receive calls just fine with our ip4.  And again, the ip4 reception and call quality is dramatically better than the 3gs.  The external antenna is not crippling the phones ability to make and receive calls.  So what is your problem?

Don't force us to get the samsung wave.  We love our ip4.  Go get the wave if you like.  For pete's sake, people are free to choose whatever device they like for themselves.  Our choices shouldn't concern you.

The only think that I have to say: "Your strategy is RIDICULES"

You know.... Us the buyers we are not monkeys… we are Intelligent Beings.

This is why I will not buy an Apple product again.

We gave our money and now you are trying with childish behavior to convince us that the same happens to other manufacturers.

Ok we are Intelligent enough to understand that you can not recall them and give a new version to the buyers because you will lose $$$.$$$.$$$ but please just admit that “You made a product that it is malfunctioning”.

I am a mobile gadget fun and I have in my collection both Samsung Omnia PRO and Nokia 5800.

I tried holding them for 20 minutes and nothing happened NO SIGNAL LOSS.

                      That’s all folks.

                                AT&T are the problem!

In a developed network like in the UK, there is none.

                                AT&T suck!

weird.. its like apple is advertising other smartphones.. just look at how difficult it is to knock the signal out of the other phones! it shows that all phones lose signal quality when held in the most uncommon way, but not for the iphone! you lose signal bars even when holding it in the most comfortable and normal way, hehe.

you could also try this on tmobile in NYC USA & you'll see the differences with the two networks.

tmobile have the fastest 3g network in the USA FOR A GSM NETWORK .

Anonymous, 21 Jul 2010The only area that seems to cause the signal bar drop, is where that tiny black strip is. U say the case will solve the problem, but its only temporarily since its external my friend and not to forget i don't want to buy a product and get it covered, why ? u lose the thickness factor u were lured in in the first place, try going to an area with low signal and checking the problem their. U have no knowledge of other users who used the Iphone 4 and depend solely on Job's facts, but u dnt know how many people have asked for help in tech sites and forums.

And about the external antenna being put to make some space, well they have made space for more development but they exposed a rather important hardware, which makes a PHONE, a PHONE. If that part is damaged u lose ur communication my friend. Its so clear dude, how can u blind urself by it ?? its so technical and clear that its a technical problem ! Ok it makes sense that Steve Job's does not approve it, he is the CEO, but i can't understand why do u don't agree while its crystal clear. Just go ask a telecommunication technician, and tell me what he says.

Plus lots of phones have the same features and even better like the Samsung Wave, They didn't need any external antennas.
