This is ridiculous. You iPhone fans are ridiculous. Jobs lacks maturity, & is behaving like a child who didn't get what they wanted.
How many different ways can it be said? It is this simple:
All phones will experience some degree of attenuation...BUT, the iPhone4 experiences it so badly, that the signal COMPLETELY drops, & reverts to "Searching for service".
At any point during any one of Jobs' pathetic experiment, did anyone see any of the mobiles he tested revert to "Searching for Service"???
That's what I thought.
Now take your over-priced iPod, hook it up to that piece of junk of malware, iTunes, & try & drown out your contempt.
A1L3, 21 Jul 2010Wow watch the video... notice how he basically cradles the thing purposely to block the antenn... moreWow yeah, also watch carefully how they purposely grip that small black strip on the ip4 to cause the bars to drop :)
Gosh you're so silly. You think it's not fair when your nokia device is held the wrong way, but you think it is when the ip4 is held the wrong way.
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2010Read Apple's financial reports so you would know how much money the iphone has brought in for ... morestill doesn't matter cause you still have to consider the fact that the iphone and ipad 3g are sold on contracts and not really unlocked like most other companies
3year term + iphone(locked)= 3000
plan + nokia(unlocked)=2000
the fact as well that nokia doesn't subsidize their phones is the thing that stands part
you must look at all these factors as well
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2010Try this one :)
Do you really handle your phones like that?
Again, no one's saying that attenuation doesn't exist here. You're grasping for straws.
iphone 4, 21 Jul 2010http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2AzjpYYBOoTry this one :)
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2010Oh please. Consumer Reports FAILED big time. They heard rumors about the death grip prior to... moreso tell me are consumers reports haters of the iphone4 and are they jealous of the iphone4????
Apple screwed up now sit down and take it like a man. (or fanboy)
Reality distortion field (RDF) is a term coined by Bud Tribble at Apple Computers in 1981, to describe it's effect on Nerds. Later the term has also been used to refer to perceptions of his keynote (or Stevenote) by observers and devoted users of any products apart from Apples'
Bud Tribble claimed that the term came from Star Trek.
In essence, RDF is the idea that nerds are able to convince themsevles and others to believe almost any bad rumours or conspiracy theories made up about Apple. RDF is said to distort an audience's sense of proportion or scales. Small advances are accused as copying. Interesting developments become faults, or huge leaps backwards. Snap judgments about technical merits without any facts available are usually utilised. Those who use the term RDF contend that it is not an example of outright deception but more a case of warping the powers of judgment. The term "audience" may refer to an individual who a rival company is hoping to affect.
The term was assumed by a few nerds to be a derogatory remark, to criticize Apple's products and its more enthusiastic fans, but this is just a fallacy made up by the nerds themselves, who, envious of the media coverage and popularity of Apple's products, unknowingly became victim to RDS themselves.
The term has extended in fanboydom to other phone owners and fanboys, who try to convince people that Apple is evil, and that the huge success of it's products is irrelevent, sometimes without regard to the overall facts in question.
Success breeds contempt.
The media is just trying to open the eyes to ifools telling the truth..for an overpiced icrapdevice..But no still icrap 4 is the best there is no isue for the ifools..BEE COOL GO and buy a HTC DESIRE OR SAMSUNG WAVE to see what really is a SMARTPHONE!
[deleted post]Read Apple's financial reports so you would know how much money the iphone has brought in for the last qtr. It's second to the ipad. It sold over 8 million units. The iphone is a top money making device for Apple.
Guy, 21 Jul 2010Yeah, I'm aware that no one holds their phone in such a way. Apple only did it to prove that a... morebut trying to prove this only made them look even worse
they should have bundled bluetooth headset with the iphone with some next company if they knew this was gonna happen from a year ago
Ryan4Nokia, 21 Jul 2010Apple isnt exposing a truth they are throwing a smoke screen to cover their A$$es ... The are ... moreThen how come none of them denied Apple's statement about attenuation being a common issue with all phones? And as been said a lot of times already, ip4 users are making and receiving calls just fine, and it even has better reception and call quality than the 3gs with lesser dropped call rates. So you are wrong in saying that there's a dropped calls issue, when at&t's report shows an insignificant number of dropped calls for the ip4.
I have the mini and I cannot duplicate Apple's try to trash Nokia as hard as I try.
[deleted post]They could say the same about Nokia and it's millions and millions of handset sales that are brought up, when someone talks about how many iphones have sold.
Apple have done well, and congratulations to them. It's funny reading comments on here that say "Apple are Doooooomed" whilst in the face of those figures.
deep space bar, 21 Jul 2010but no one grips their phones like that it was just after how steve jobs told every ipho... moreYeah, I'm aware that no one holds their phone in such a way. Apple only did it to prove that attenuation exists. But ironically, attenuation (as well as de-tuning)is easier to achieve on their phone.
anonymous, 21 Jul 2010you must be one of the lucky ones
not me :(Are your hands touching the antenna gap at the bottom of the phone? That might be the reason why you are dropping bars and calls.
I don't think there will be a fix for your phone, as you have the de-tuning problem, as well as the attenuation. You should send your phone back.
Wow watch the video... notice how he basically cradles the thing purposely to block the antenna no one holds there phone like that
Guy, 21 Jul 2010Your phones are ok because the antenna's aren't easily accessible. If you grip the phone reall... morebut no one grips their phones like that
it was just after how steve jobs told every iphone4 user they are holding it the wrong why everyone has been trying out the death grip on their phones
which is hilarious
and how everyone mostly holds the phone is where the antenna on the iphone 4 is being covered unless you have a bluetooth or wired headset
