Anonymous, 21 Jul 2010It's because the media don't make a big deal on other phone's attenuation issues.  And ot... moreApple isnt exposing a truth they are throwing a smoke screen to cover their A$$es ... The are just distracting their customers by trying to make them believe all the products from the other brands Nokia, Samsung, Moto, SE LG etc... Drop calls and loss Network connectivity by holding the product Naturally! But they did not prove this in any of theIr videos! They just should attenuation 101 lessens and expect their blind customers to forget that the PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE WAS THAT THE IPHONE 4 DROPPED CALLS & OVERALL COMPLETE RECEPTION LOSS.

deep space bar, 21 Jul 2010it didn't completely loose reception like iphone has shown in one spot and the 5800,5230,5... moreYour phones are ok because the antenna's aren't easily accessible. If you grip the phone really tightly in the area where the internal antenna is, you might drop a bar, but this is a rarity. Which is why it's hard to find hundreds of videos of Nokia's, Samsung's, RIM's having this issue. Only 2 or 3 videos a piece of this happening.

hey apple please grow up and make a good iPhone (imaturePhone as I call it for now) I have been using a N97mini, never once did Nokia phone ever had a antenna reception problem even with weakest signal areas.

I suggest steve jobs should rather work on improving his product than pointing fingers at others to hide his own product's faults.

The truth is that all phones are susceptible to attenuation, but only phones with external antennas with un-coated antenna gaps will have reception loss issues.

the people whinging about the iPhone 4 reception were (drum roll).......... iPhone 4 users. Not all of them, but enough for Apple to delete the forum threads that only Apple product purchasers use.

Apple are the one dragging other mobile phone companies into the debate. to be honest... i'm boooored of Apple users whinging about their rubbish products and Apple whoring themselves in adverts on tv with all the money they've taken from people whining about the products they've bought.

And how many people complained about dropped calls with 97 ... moreThat's true.  And Apple will be working to improve its new antenna design.  They will figure out a way to remedy that attenuation issue, and when that happens, this external antenna design would truly be an innovation.  And the iphone will be the only one to enjoy this design :)

[deleted post]Of course all phones have attenuation occurrences. The only ones debating this are those who are uninformed, as well as those who believe that antenna de-tuning isn't an issue.

Yes Apple, you have a problem with your new device, you admitted it and now it's time to start working on solving this problem instead of trying to convince us that "everybody has it". The ball is in your court, time to play!
PS: That's what I call wrong type of communication - this will lead to nothing good about Apple.

It doesn't really matter if this was an iPhone 5 or a Nokia N1000, if it has both these issues of attenuation and signal de-tuning, they need to get the problem fixed, instead of coasting on "of 100 people with the device, only 48 aren't happy with the device, so since they're in the minority, we shouldn't care."
