It is because Nokia's products are 'reasonably cheaper' than any mobile company.
They don't 'overprice' a phone with doesn't have much to give and a hardware failure like the iphone 4.
They're not taking advantage of other people's pocket.
They make phones for ol sort of people.
They are not money worshippers like Apple.
And i love nokia for that.
Great selection of reliable phones.
Good features in a reasonable price.
In 2011, they'll make a comeback on high ends, the rise of meego and symbian^4
Nokia really needs to pull their heads out of their asses and STICK with a mobile OS and really develop it for their smartphones. They need to aggressively market them, find the top 30 apps that google and iPhone offer, and make versions of them for their phones, and have them preinstalled on the phone, so it all works out of the box. They have to decide whether or not they want to make smartphones, or cameras that pale in comparison to other smartphones on the market.

A couple of days and their market cap is back on track.
It looks like Apple is about to pass Microsoft in revenue as well as market cap.

Trx, 22 Jul 2010"Stop producted Symbian S40"? Lol
Most sold Nokia devices are s40 phones. Nokia sh... morethey have lol

Anonymous, 22 Jul 201010 005 million euro (12.842 billion US dollars)?YES!
I just like Nokia smart phones and don't care what iPhone lovers gonna to say. Most reliable phones in a market it's Nokia and also with a best photo camera. I still got Nokia N95 8GB and still enjoy with my old multifunction phone.
Another reliable brand it's Sony-Ericsson.
"Stop producted Symbian S40"? Lol
Most sold Nokia devices are s40 phones. Nokia should give new features for s40 like autorotation, wifi etc.
Who says camera megapixel war is over? Huh? So you are happily using a phone with a VGA camera? Good luck.
Nokia's not going to enter camera mp war. It's going to redefine mobile camera with the N8. It's going to set a new benchmark.
Nokia didn't release any notable smartphone in Q2, but come Q3 and Q4 along with symbian^3 and ^4 and meego and mobiles like N8, E7, N9 and all the unrevealed, things are gonna get exciting. Be warned.
Points to note, 22 Jul 2010# Kallasvuo, "Nokia will make a come back at the higher end of the market".
# No... morei've watched the new Qt application creator and WOW 3 choices
crossplatform,maemo5 or symbi3n
why, 22 Jul 2010like i said it before the mega pixel race is over...u cannot have a dominant phone only by ha... moreyeah MP camera is over. if Nokia wanna win again must concentrate
4. stop producted Symbian S60 & java S40 concentrate on Symbian Foundation OS , Maemo & Meego.
# Kallasvuo, "Nokia will make a come back at the higher end of the market".
# Nokia will bring a family of Symbian^3 devices to the market and aim to ship 50 million Symbian^3 devices. Symbian^3 family of devices 'in place' for Q4.
# Nokia is leveraging "a software centric approach". The Symbian^3 software will be uniform across the range making it easier for Nokia's internal teams to maintain a "cadence of device releases". It was also mean that it will be "much easier for third party developer to make applications work across the range of Symbian devices".
# Symbian is about leveraging scale and covering a broad market foot print. MeeGo is about leveraging speed of innovation at the high end. They have "different sweet spots".
# It "takes more than a good product to succeed", logistic and distributions channels are important and "Nokia excels in these areas".
# Nokia has improved its performance in mobile phones (Series 30 and Series 40) this quarter in the face of fierce competition, especially from Chinese manufacturers. The successful launch of the Nokia C3 was a particular highlight.
# Looking to the future Kallasvuo said that Nokia was coming to the "end of a painful product transition at high end". "The N8 will mark the beginning of our renewal and going forward I believe we will regain leadership in our industry".
# Asked about the US smartphone market Kallasvuo indicated that Nokia regard the market as important, but Nokia ave faced challenges with operator relations and testing. He noted that earlier Symbian generations have not been able to get though operator testing in the US in a competitive time frame. This should improve with Symbian^3 and future generations. Symbian will be important in the US, but "we will need MeeGo in the US".
# N8 will start shipping towards the end of Q3. However the major impact (in terms of geographic launches and sales) will be in Q4. Nokia plan to launch the device with an array of services and software, both from Nokia and external partners.
# Asked about the relationship between Symbian and MeeGo, Kallasvuo said that "Symbian and MeeGo are the best combination for smartest devices. Our focus with MeeGo is for the highest end smart devices, beyond what is considered the current smartphone. Symbian is and will continue to be our core software platform; we will continue to have Symbian devices across our entire portfolio, both at the high end and low end, including the strong possibility of Nseries devices. Trying to tackle too much with one platform has proved challenging [in the past], but we do need to manage the dynamic here, it is about managing the road map."
# With Qt Nokia "aim for simplicity and productivity through common APIs. Developers can utilise the same APIs to port applications between Symbian and MeeGo without significant rewriting. However there will be richer functionality in MeeGo and related APIs to address them."
why, 22 Jul 2010well they need to attract more devlopers and fast....the app store and android market.....is r... moreQt being able to port iphone and droidOS apps means more money plus symbian supports multitouch and N900 is just blazing fast
but on the n900 that means they will have to get rid of the reposites and add them to a special catagory on the Ovi store only for N900
plus N900 is like like the milestone great hardware but no multitouch but responsive as hell
deep space bar, 22 Jul 2010Qt will fix that problem with apps on symbian and maemo5 for surewell they need to attract more devlopers and fast....the app store and android market.....is running fast ahead...while ovi store is failling...
mobile cameras, 22 Jul 2010Other companies are nowhere near to Nokia in terms of camera performance. Compare Satio final ... morelike i said it before the mega pixel race is over...u cannot have a dominant phone only by having hish resolution camera nowdays u need software like apps games, high resolution dispaly.....touch friendly ui etc etc to have dominant phone.........android doed not support 5+megapixel camera but now they are a sucess due to apps
mobile cameras, 22 Jul 2010Other companies are nowhere near to Nokia in terms of camera performance. Compare Satio final ... moreFor all that successes, thanks to Carl Zeiss lenses.. The best in market.. Im a big fan of it.. =)
why, 22 Jul 2010apple and android took full advantage of this laziness........pretty much and now they are kinda suffering for it
but everyone now needs it just for their OS and UI to function which sucks
so without the GPU android and iOS would look like s40 XD
