WasANokian, 22 Jul 2010The new N8 should have high expectations similar to when N97 was. Only concern is its new Symb... moreyou're 100% correct about the n97, i had it and it did have many problems and that was all due to wrong budgeting. they put money into the physical design rather than the os and the hardware and for that, nokia's rep took a beating. but also, if that phone hadn't turned out they way it did, thier fans wouldn't have complained they probably wouldn't have started symbian from scratch.
and nokia didn't put anything out for Q2 remember they skipped Q2 to fix the N8 for Q3
come on guys
don't you rememeber
ALonZo, 22 Jul 2010I was like you, hardcore Nokia for years, funny enough also an iPhone hater just cos ppl hated... moreme to i think almost the entire population were nokia fans before the iphone and android came out i even got the iphone 3g on the release date and when nokia announced the 5800 i was too excited and sold my 3g when i got the 5800 i was completely shocked and gave it to my brother after a month but the n900 is ok i have one along with my 3gs and soon will replace my 3gs with iphone 4 :)
the actual problem is the euro that dropped really low this year and a smart move to lower the price for the upcoming new models from nokia to get better sale but yet again to get more they will have to subsidize the prices and have contracts with providers to get back that 8% they lost
WasANokian, 22 Jul 2010The new N8 should have high expectations similar to when N97 was. Only concern is its new Symb... moreI was like you, hardcore Nokia for years, funny enough also an iPhone hater just cos ppl hated it. When I finally caved in and got my 3GS I haven't looked back! It's the best phone I have ever owned and used! Nokia can still make low to mid range phones very well, their high end devices are not competition for the iPhone n Android Market. Nokia are trying to provide competition for the high but are failing to do so, and their high end devices are mainly for Nokia owners who want a business phone.
Can someone tell me how the average price of smartphone is 140 euros? Even the lowest smartphone costs much more than that! The prices doesnt change even if you take into account developing nations.
i think people should check this out it's old news but the article is really good
why do always have an explanation for Nokia's DOWNFALL?
if SMARTPHONES are getting cheaper and SAMSUNG, MOTOROLA, APPLE, LG, SE and others are focusing on smartphones, why do they have increasing profit? hmmm.. oh well, since day 1, GSMarena is ALWAYS on Nokia's back. wink ;)
The new N8 should have high expectations similar to when N97 was. Only concern is its new Symbian 3. It is a new OS, and I am very very sure that there will be many issues with it....then comes the long wait for new firmwares...and so the headache begins.
I've been a Nokia fan since the days of N95. Then went on to N95-8GB, E71, and finally N97. I was even an IPHONE hater...yes that is true! Of all the phones I've used, it seems that the e71 was the most stable and N97 was the worse of all. There are just too many issues with the phones via hardware and software especially N97, that was the last nail to seal the coffin for me to leave Nokia. Since I was an Iphone hater..I was wondering why Apple sales were up, always sold out on iphones, and lines were always long when purchasing one. One day, I decided to have an open mind and stopped discriminating other Manufactures then tried the new Iphone 4 for 2 weeks....My headaches disappeared!!! Ever since i got the phone and turned it on, I had never turned it off and its been 4 weeks! No lockups, No slowness! With the N97, I had to turn it off multiple times during the day or even removing the battery. And that stupid scratch on the lense.
Im not saying get an Iphone...just have an open mind and try others..ie Android, RIM, Bada, Apple..etc. You will notice how outdated Nokia has been and how others are catching up..FAST!
If this situation is came 3-yrs before...... than there will be no chances for NOKIA to produce it;s low quality..........porty look, and superslow mobiles........... as they are making fool of peoples by just changing the names.... the go has given them punishment,,,,,, to make fool of there customers................
"NOKIA DISTRACTING PEOPLE"
I am very happy to see nokia in this situation "TIT FOR TAT"
mikey, 22 Jul 2010yo man, nokia was the last one to enter the touch screen market (out of samsung, lg, se) so th... morewhatever you say but don't deny that the iphone had an important role and took the touch screen market to a whole new level and still nokia got a long way to go starting with a proper OS and finding developers android even surpassed symbian in my opinion
Anonymous, 22 Jul 2010i love the n900 and looks promising but the lack of good application what bothers me yea man.. i love the n900 too. i have a moto droid and n900 and to be honest with you, even though the droid has more features (once again cause the n900 was a stepping stone for nokia to do something bigger, they didn't put everything they should have in it), the phone is much simplar to use and a much clean look to the overall interface. i think meego will be big for them
if N8 get's cheaper, i would buy 10 of them and give it to the one's who uses iphone like my friend right here.
Anonymous, 22 Jul 2010i'm sorry but you are wrong the n900 & the n97 were a competition to the iphone so tell me... moreyo man, nokia was the last one to enter the touch screen market (out of samsung, lg, se) so they came up with thier touch screen phone based on not having any competing products, it hadd nothing to ddo with the iphone alone. thats also why they didn't have enough time to design a proper touch UI or OS and had to work off symbian. but either way, thier beginning to catch up

(i've used everyone one you've talked about so you better have ur facts straight)
go watch the initial videos of maemo before it was released. LISTEN to wat they say, the n900 IS NOT meant to compete against the n97 and its rivals.
Anonymous, 22 Jul 2010you're telling me to calm down? you're the one the thats talking smack like nokia did somethin... morei'm sorry but you are wrong the n900 & the n97 were a competition to the iphone so tell me why nokia didn't make touch screen phones until the iphone came ? and why their flagship is a touch screen phone don't tell me it's not competition
Haha just as i thought nokia are having a hard time and soon they will fall,i see great potential in the iphone 4 and soon the whole nokia company and all its ugly phones will be outsold by one premium iphone. They say my iphone 4 drops calls and fails as a phone but who's average price is falling who's profit is falling. Food for though.
