My phone was draining fast after the update, and doing what everyone else described, but after a few days, my phone went back to normal. Fast charging, seems a little faster now, and my battery seems to last longer. I guess the phone had to settle after the update, so before you freak out after the update because things seem crazy, and before you go deep into your phone making adjustments, wait at least 4 days to see what happens. I admit I freaked out too, but now I am very, very happy with my phone after the update!!!!!

Draining battery fast, takes longer to charge and the browser is playing up.

Galaxy S7, Verizon, fast charge no longer works using ep-ta20jwe adaptive fast changing brick and usb cable that worked consistently before the March 2018 update (applied April 8th).

So I entered recovery settings. Did a factory reset. It was done in few second.
Restarted. The phone says 'an unauthorized attempt was made to reset this device' (because I didn't unlock it)
But unfortunately reset was complete.
And bad thing is that now there is no new software update listed in settings which means this latest buggy update is now in my phone. Although not 100 % sure, don't recall build number.
Still somewhere I feel what if a factory reset wasn't needed But then 4 hours is too much for a security update. Also the metal around was getting really hot. Quite sad about the data. Ruined my day.
Here, I especially signed in to tell you that the latest update to s7 dge (some 98 mbs here in India) is faulty.
It will brick your phone, mine was stuck on Samsung logo for 4 hours, turned lava hot and none of the YouTube tricks worked to exit boot loop.
DO NOT UPDATE (ESPECIALLY INDIANS)
Currently I will discharge it and when it gets 1% I will directly try to enter recovery mode, and factory reset from there. Normal restart takes you back to Samsung logo.
Damn, it was just a 98 mb security update wtf wrong with Samsung. All my data gone..
What the hell are they doing in tech world??? This latest update is TERRIBLE my phones battery is being depleted fast, it's glitchy, slow loading pages and even slower typing messages, its not connecting bluetooth messaging to my car and the list could go on!
I've had enough! Please fix it and give us a new update asap!
We have two S7's. We updated one of the two and it bricked the phone. Fortunately it was under warranty. They had to replace the mother board. Even after that the batter life is terrible. We are afraid it even try the update on the other one. We will probably wait until the next update cycle and hope they have fixed whatever the bugs are.
defy, 06 Apr 2018Just updated the S7, the phone heats up and drains battery so quick!! The phone is still war... moreYeah, same thing happened to my phone after the latest software update. Phone heats up!!! Also it takes forever to charge it . My s7 was fine before the update!
Is anyone having trouble with widgets? My calander is now super slow from this update and my battery is shit.
Also, my keyboard disappeared and I had to download a new app kika and download a keyboard. So frustrating. Uugh.
S7edge suxrocksnow, 10 Apr 2018Why can a update screw up a perfectly functioning device must be a liberal programmer.Intelligent response!
today my phone received 60 mb update, but after install this update my phone is totally brick
Literally! I did the update last night. within 3 hours of non use off the charger, my battery was at 50%. Would not accept any charger, long hesitation between apps, unable to text, missed calls and messages, got super hot to touch. I went to verizon, now I'm getting a refurbished phone. My phone was perfectly fine yesterday. The tech at verizon thinks the update fried the battery and that affects may apps. NOT HAPPY!

Since this update I cannot change the text message font size default on my S7 Active. Volume key only changes ring tone volume. Can pinch and change size but it only works for that message and then goes back to small default size. No "More" option on message screen to change settings and "Chatbots"? WTF? Font size change in display settings changes for ALL text which I don't want.
Also, after restart, takes much longer to load icons.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
