I updated to Oreo my S7 Edge and all ok except the camera setting "PRO" my loved camera setting!!!! When I set Pro the cama application crashed.
Are there any Fix ?
During the last update of my Samsung A7 the messaging app changed. No longer are quick responses available to enter in messages. I hate that
Hi all that are experiencing the Samsung update problems.
I called Samsung customer service and they have resolved the issue!! they got me to do a factory restore. So wiped out all data but because I had backed everything up on the cloud it restored all my apps, call/msg data etc. so just call them and they will talk you through it. Good luck !
GuitarMan, 09 May 2018I have the same "boot loop" problem with my Galaxy S7 Edge after a Samsung (Oreo?) software up... moreI phone updates have also messed up users phones. My boyfriend has an iPhone and won't do updates because his phone got messed up after an update
Looks like I'm not the only one experiencing this Samsung update issue. I am on EE and I don't think it matters what network you are on. this update is totally screwing up the handsets. Same prob - phone is stuck on Samsung logo and is getting extremely hot as well. what I mistake I made to update!!! Samsung need to take responsibility for this!
I attempted my S7 update on 7th May around 10 am, the overall update took about 30mins to update, then I was asked to install, now I usually do updates overnight but considering it was bank holiday I action it straight away. (what a mistake!) My phone was fully charged and all I kept seeing was the Samsung sign, the handset was 'extremely' hot, with the occasional update attempt from apps 56,57,60,61. the handset would turn on and I would see the main screen in safe mode for 2 seconds but it would then go black. The Samsung sign would return with a pulsating glow.
I took the handset to Vodafone that same day and they told me the update had drained my battery, so I needed to charge it to complete the update. This update had already taken an entire day so far... I went home to charge it and I was experiencing the same repetitive update routine from this morning. (my phone is still within its manufactures warranty)
Now funny enough... Samsung passed the blame of this 'glitch' / 'bug' and software update issue was on the Vodafone Network. Samsung told me this update issue has ONLY effected the Vodafone network!
I really would like people to respond, if YOU have another network provider or if you are all Vodafone customers experiencing this update issue?
I refuse to have my phone wiped by Samsung, as I have videos and pictures of my family which are not on my SD card. Re-booting does not work, I tried it a few times. I will be filing a formal complaint via OFCOM, as this is not acceptable!
Vodafone are blaming Samsung as it is there update and Samsung is passing the blaming back to Vodafone...
NO ONE is taking responsibility, or finding the required resolve. Except from telling customers the easiest thing for Samsung to do is 'completely wipe' your handset and restore original factory settings... losing any and everything on it!
(yes I know... we all should back up our precious memories but I think we rely on technology too much to be on top on these things, including me)
We are the paying customers who are suffering and need to stand up, unity is the key... I see over 2237 comments on this already, so we are all being effected.
I have the samsung s7 and did the oreo update this morning, got stuck on the samsung logo screen. I tried everything everyone has suggested (apart from factory reset) nothing worked. I spoke to samsung customer support and technical support, they said it is a global problem with the update and there are only 2 options to resolve it. factory reset or send your phone back to them where...... they will do the factory reset. So i did the factory reset myself and it worked, VERY annoying. A few people have said various things have worked for them, just thought i'd post what samsung have said directly (this may have already been said but there are over 112 pages on this issue :/ )
Wow i feel lucky that the only problem i have after the update is a voicemail icon wont go away even when ive deleted the msg,its fair to say Samsung are now taking the piss
Oh thank you. Thank you all so much. It is such a relief to know mine is not the only S7 Oreo has rendered useless. IÂ’ll be back here when my phone returns from not being repaired.
I have the same "boot loop" problem with my Galaxy S7 Edge after a Samsung (Oreo?) software update yesterday morning. I have the same flashing Samsung logo (to remind us who is responsible for this major cockup!!) and my phone gets very hot.
The first bit of good advice is to plug in your charger and switch the phone off by pressing the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time and hold them down until the phone switches off. Mine won't switch off without the charger plugged in.
I have also taken my sd card out in the hope that I can save my photos, which I always save to the sd card.
I managed to bring up the maintenance menu and clear the cache, as advised elsewhere, but that didn't solve the problem. I have tried to start up in safe mode, which starts up without the apps (which are probably causing the problem), but so far I haven't managed to achieve this.
The next step apparently is to do a factory reset from the maintenance menu but this will wipe all of my apps and data, including photos and videos in the phone memory! So I am avoiding that until Samsung can find a way to sort out their mess without us paying!! If they don't, the iPhone will quickly become the most popular phone in the UK! Next time Samsung, test your software properly before you issue it!
Lastly, I agree with the recommendation below to check out thedroidguy.com. Their website contains some very clear advice on this problem and other mobile issues.
If anyone finds a solution that doesn't involve losing all your data, please post it here.
gaily, 08 May 2018i cant even get mine to give me an option to reset to factory settings, it will not move from ... moreIt will trust me, You have to plug your phone in power button and volume down will switch it off then unplug mains charger.Follow the instructions from the Android tech guys they have a web site. It took a few times to get the timing right but don't give up...
OK guys, I had the same problem and had to facotry reset using the following method
Plug the phone in to a charger
Press Power, Volume Down and Home keys together until the phone turns off
Press Power, Volume Up and Home keys together until the phone tries to resume the update (green android image shown), after a few mins the update will fail and then a mini menu will be shown.
Using the Voume Up/Down buttons select Factory Reset and press the Power button.
This may also fail with a "Can't find /misc directory", but will then reset and power up.
You will have to put all your details in again as if it was a new phone, Google should have backed up all your contacts etc, but all my messages and pictures have gone.
At least you can use your phone again, although the new user interface is a bit wierd to start with.
Anonymous, 08 May 2018i had the same but now randomly several hours later my phone has started to work again!thanks fingers crossed mine does

i cant even get mine to give me an option to reset to factory settings, it will not move from the flashing samsung screen, I have tried eevrythig
I had the exact same issues last night. Frozen on Samsung logo very frustrating. My phone wouldn't turn off. This was my method of brining my phone back from the dead. I turned phone off with power lead connected as this was the only way to keep the phone off. Press and hold power button with volume down button and phone should switch off.
Follow instructions from the dried guys of clearing cache which I did no joy then full factory reset still no joy then I started in safe mode and hey presto. Reactivate Google accounts so remember passwords what a nightmare lol.. After about 1hr of reloading apps etc, I crossed my fingers and took phone out of safe mode in the settings and it's still working thank God. Good luck....
Nannie Annie, 07 May 2018I have just downloaded the recent update and my phone is now not working. Just flashing Samsun... moreI am having the same issue. Phone wont switch on only flashing samsung. What's going on???
This is a nightmare. The first upgrade to go this bad. What is Samsung's solution or are all phones going to die!
I have just downloaded the recent update and my phone is now not working. Just flashing Samsung at me. The phone is also getting hot. Any idea how to fix. Cant use it!!!!
Surley after reading these problems Samsung should do something about it. I have never had problems with Samsung before!!!
