Updated to latest update today. No longer avle to see my chromecast device (which i used last night). Everything works. The chromecast exists, has been rebooted, has had a factory reset. Can be seen on my android phone, works on my wifes ipbone. Just cannot see a device when i want to connect.
Got the message to update earlier today, after update everything seems to be working fine (for now). Only issue that's been driving me crazy is, the colors on my screen seem to have gotten lighter/ faded a bit. Doesn't really have the darker bolder colors. Been messing with it all day, no luck!
i received notification to update software last night and its still updating , i am unable to switch on my phone, i dont know what to do
I'm So Aggravated Since My Last update on My Samsung S7 ! My Keyboard Has A Mind of its own! For every letter I type it puts in 3 to 6 letters and numbers ! how Do I Fix this ? Yes I'm Mad. I Love My Phone But probably want ever update again because No Fix can be found for this !
Since the latest January update my S7 edge remains constantly in safe mode, with no way to turn it off. I tried everything, from the volume up / home / power button combo after switching off the phone in order to wipe the cache, uninstalling apps in safe mode, restoring settings and even doing a whole factory reset. Nothing helps, it's still stuck in safe mode.
Four updates in three days... got an error saying that the sim card isn't compatible, then all of my pictures prior to the new year go away, now my phone froze and shut off. Now it won't turn on at all, won't charge and Verizon can't do anything about it in store.
Yesterday I got a message indicating that I needed to install the newest system update, so I did... I have installed updates every time it is recommended, and have never noticed much difference, but this time it's DRIVING ME NUTS... Every time I do anything on the phone, I get advertising banners, that cannot be swiped off. They just sit there until they decide to go away. And they don't just hang out off to the side or at the top or bottom, but they are positioned right in amidst the active screen... and it's almost non-stop. Why would Samsung incorporate such (or any?!!?) advertisement into a system/security update? It's really ridiculous, and in fact, if it was like this from the beginning, I would have never kept this phone. I don't know who to complain to, either, and that's almost as frustrating as waiting for these stupid ad banners to remove themselves from my screen. Is there any way to remove the update, and just go back to the previous one? It was only installed last month (December 2017).
Just did recent update, ugh my phone wont connect with wifi, pictures wont load, phone freezes. This is ridicules. Pay to much money for these phones to have ur updates screw them up. Fix the problems.
AnonD-728712, 05 Jan 2018my s7edge updated this morning. ever since, my background is black, I have lost the top of my ... moreYes, exact same thing happened to my phone, only much more! My fingerprint recognition will not work. None of the themes I PAID for will work. It won't display who is calling me; I cannot answer the phone unless I go through a three-step process! Can't see volume adjustment. Can't adjust ANYTHING AT ALL in settings! This happened immediately after the update install of Dec 15th. Called Samsung; sent hours on the phone & chat sessions with them. Tried everything they asked me to do, nothing worked- except, I got my clock back on my home screen. This update was a total joke!! I'm getting an iPhone!
So i installed the update and things have gone downhill in a hurry. Phone began with green and pink lines down the right side, then a few white lines, top right corner is getting super hot, half the screen intermittently failed, then caput the screen just blinks on and off. weird thing is the screen works when the phone is powered off and charging but doesnt when its turned on.
Is anyone having the pink green line issue that is causing failure?
After the latest update my phone have been extremely slow. Today something was causing my phone to go crazy. Chewed up 20% battery in a matter of minutes. It didn't stop until I ran a virus scan. The virus said it didn't find anything. NEVER take an update on a Samsung phone after one year. I have a very strong hunch that they purposely slowing down old phones!
So last night one of our Galaxy 7’s did an update which froze the phone! Now all it does is recycle on and off without stopping!! I first had to reboot the phone to get it unfroze but now it just recycles and has run the battery completely down. It booted 1 time but froze and restarted throwing it into the cycle again!!! How do I fix this and why can’t Samsung get their stuff together? This phone is only 12 months old and was a replacement to the Note 7... another time when Samsung screwed us all over!
AnonD-729634, 10 Jan 2018I have my home screen display set to 4x4 however since the last but one software update when t... moreGo to Settings> Apps and up the top right hand corner, select the 3 dots.
Select Default apps from the dropdown and then Homescreen.
Select the other Touchwiz launcher than the one that is already selected and then press home to return to home screen.
You should now be able to change your icon size when you hold down your main screen and select screen grid.
Updated and phone keeps turning itself on and off and getting really hot?!?!?! Also had a loud buzzin noise coming from the speaker for about 1and a half minute.. never been damaged and only 16 month old.. absolute joke
Toni, 10 Dec 2017The update messed up my s7 too. It's stuck on the samsung logo screen, blue led flashing and t... moreMine also crashed and my phone is literally killed by the update. All I can see is the Blue LED light and that's it. I cannot use my phone at all. Is your phone already working? What did you do? Tried contacting samsung, but they seem not recognizing the problem.
Few days ago i updated to Dec patch, was hesitating whether I should do that or not because of what I've read here, but decided to give it a try anyways. I'm not sure if they fixed something with patch in the mean time or it is different for Europe but after updating my phone works fine, its even little snappier then it was before, no battery drainage problem, no overheating, no green screens, etc. The only difference I've noticed is that it takes little longer to charge on fast charger, not sure if that is a bad thing though and my phone has more space on it.
I haven't done it, but maybe its a good idea to wipe old cache from phone before installing new patch, maybe that would help with problems people experience.
Did the update G935VVRU4BQK4 on December 20 and the sound from speaker has been crackly and full of static. Ringtones, notification alerts, speaker phone sound is distorted and loud. Started in safe mode problem continued. Cleaned system cache without improvement. Did a factory reset with no improvement. Samsung support doesn't think update caused problem. The problem with sound started immediately after update. Phone has not been dropped, exposed to water, or in anyway damaged.
Can provide with certainty that the Samsung Galaxy S7 software update dated 12-13-2017 has caused multiple problems for me with my S7 & Verizon. While others are complaining about battery charging being slower and I noticed that too, the two main problems, verified with Verizon Support as being valid with other Samsung users (although you have to waterboard them to get them to admit to this), are these:
1) The phone reception is quite poor and it toggles from 4G service to 1X service at random.
2) Calls get routed straight to voice mail, when the phone toggles itself into DND (Do Not Disturb) mode by itself, without being set by me. Put differently, when you use the pull-down menu to check the DND setting it will show "off/disabled/greyed out", but the DND logo will appear in the upper LH portion of the screen and you are in fact in DND mode. The workaround (only temporary) is to Restart the phone.
It is unknown what caused the phone to toggle to 1X and/or DND modes. I have seen my phone do both and have seen it just toggle to DND and not be in 1X mode. It took a while and many calls to sort out the cause of this problem, but being a software tester, I was able to determine it was the software update, which I installed on 12-21-2017. Verizon has this categorized in their Support database as a "call interruption problem" and have posted it to the Verizon-Samsung in-house forum, but the Samsung moderator has failed to respond.
I repeat, the Samsung Mobile Dev moderator has not even acknowledged to Verizon that they are working on this problem. This is not acceptable.
So,Verizon has no answers on how to fix this.
To be clear this problem was caused by, and started immediately after the most recent software system update foisted upon my phone, on or about 12-21-2017, which is currently at version G930VVRU4BQK4.
Samsung Mobile Dev needs to get n gear on a fix for this bug. THIS IS AN URGENT PROBLEM.
Please post here if you have installed this version and are having issues, and also please post to Samsung Mobile USA's Facebook page and let them know we need a fix pronto!
