How do I turn off background data now since the update?? It used to be in data usage in the settings....
After the update while my phone (Samsung galaxy s7 edge) was turning on, it stopt at the 'samsung' loading screen and wouldn't turn on. When the battery died, I tried again turning on my phone but it again crashed at the 'samsung' loading screen. 2 weeks further and it's still the same.

The first thing I would try is to delete whatever email accounts you have such as gmail, yahoo etc, then go to settings> apps> email. Then clear cache, then clear data, finally force stop (you will then see a pop up box that says "if you force stop an app, it may cause errors") don't worry about that, it will be OK. Then restart your phone and restart your email app and then reinstall your email accounts.
Hopefully that will work. If not, I would try installing a third party email client via playstore such as Blue Mail.

As you are a Vodafone Australia customer you may already know about the weekly "Software update wrap" ? but it might be worth a look if you don't. Just copy and paste this link.
I'ts definitely worth a look because it gives you a list phone models,
what the new software version is,
the software update type such as security patch/feature update/bug fix etc
and if there have been any issues found during testing (VERY IMPORTANT)
and also when the update is likely to be rolled out.
It might help you to decide whether or not to download a new software update or whether to wait a while until it's been tested for any bugs/glitches.

S... moreHi, unfortunately it looks like a factory data reset is the only thing you can try. I know that may be a pain (remember to check and double check anything you think you may want to back up first) but some android tech guys recommend a factory data reset after a software update as a matter of course.

I have a Galaxy Note 5 and followed the prompt to update to Android v 7 (Nougat) 3 days ago. Since updating, my Whatsapp freezes randomly (e.g. I cannot answer an incoming call), I sometimes can't play videos on Youtube, and videos don't play when browsing Facebook. I have searched a number of sites on how to fix these issues and have tried the following: clearing the cache, removing and reloading Whatsapp. This hasn't worked. Any ideas?
I did the same software upgrade on 19 June. Since then, I don't get notified of my WhatsApp messages. When I connect my phone to whatsapp Web, it says my phone is not connected to Internet, even when it is well connected to the WiFi! Logged out and scanned the qr code, it connects for a hole and disconnects while the phone is connected to WiFi.
As for my other apps notificationssuch as twitter or instagram, I receive it after a few days.for instance for an instagram post posted on 23 Jun, I was just notified a few hours ago...

Hi Guys I have communicated with Samsung because after the update unfortunately I canÂ’t send smses it gives me an error message that says ANDROID.COM.PHONE HAS STOPPED. I have rebooted tried all the troubleshooting steps but nothing seems to be working apparently the only way this can be fixed is going to a Samsung store so they reload the software again as the one we all updated too has glitches so no troubleshooting steps can help you.
