After the last update, it uses much faster battery and it has been very slow
found this thread because... i updated a couple days ago, and now today for the first time (why didnt it happen before??) phone is hot and battery draining fast. "battery" section says Android System is at the top of the list in terms of battery useage (30%) then Google App (14%) then Android OS (12%)...
I'm on an S7 edge verizon
Samsung 7edge. Battery drained from 100 to 10 in several hours. Haven't even used it. Phone really hot. Slow! Won't send msg. This is not fair. The phone forces you to install update yet this is what we're left with. Their had better be a solution!
What a Hell!
Same for me here. My phone bacame a shitphone. Now even typing is now freezing/lagging.
These are the updates:
August 2016 Android Security Patches
SMS over WiFi
Additional SOS message fixes
Battery drain issue in China
Oh I just got off from Samsung Chat. She said to do safe mode and let it sit for an hour. Not sure what the solution but I have the exact same problem with you! It was 100% at 6 AM and dropped to 2% at 10 AM.
Now, the phone not really "charging" , it takes way too slow to charge... :(
Same issue with me after the Sep security update the battery is terrible. I chatted with Samsung and they asked me to test in safemode.

All of a suddne the battery use rate increased. Usually I can go all day on a battery charge. Now it is at 19% and dropping even on my charger at work.
S7 Edge on Verizon. I went from 100 percent to 11 percent in 3 hours this morning. I went looking to see if everybody else is having problems. Glad I'm not alone. Maybe they will fix it. My phone is practically unusable in this state.
I'm seeing horrible battery drain since last night. 50% in 2 hours. I updated a week ago on Rogers but battery life has only been horrible since last night.
Updated my S7 Edge last night. My battery went from 100% to 10% in 3 hours this morning. Fun.
Thanks, Samsung. As of this morning, phone has gone to shit. Battery went from 100 to dead in 3 hours, barely touched it. Loses battery while charging. Extremely hot. Slow. Laggy.
This is a flagship phone, really?
I'm having the same issue with my Galaxy S7 Edge. I'm running out of battery 10X faster than ever after my most recent update earlier this week. Any help on fixing this issue or insight into what Samsung or AT&T is saying would be beneficial.
I have experienced significant battery drain, noticeable lag on the keyboard, and wifi going in and out since the update. No answer from verizon on what is being done to correct.
anyone know how to remove the most recent update?
I have an S7 Edge, Black Onyx edition and my phone is perfectly fine. If you suspect it to be an error in the update, why not flash the original firmware again? My update hasn't done anything differently and my phone works better than ever with it so I don't no why you're having such an issue.
This isn't Samsung's fault though, and neither is the Note problem, there was an error in the programming causing an issue with the battery. It is plainly a battery problem and nothing to hassle Samsung about, everyone makes mistakes.
Samsung isn't obligated to fix you're problem either, that is why you have a service provider, take it to them and let them deal with it, or like I said, fix it yourself.
I have the same problem too with my S7 edge, it's much laggy now!!!! How can I downgrade it???!!!
I installed the latest update for my 3 month old Samsung s7 last week and have had nothing but bother with it since!!
I have been in touch with Samsung about my problems since the update and am disappointed with their response.
After contacting them the first time they tried to say it was a glitch with me phone and to reset it, even after I told them to go on to the internet and see how many other people had similar problems
I also told them that I had used smart switch twice and rebooted twice but the problems at still there. I think the reason for this is that the latest update gets uploaded even if you set the update to manual!!
I contacted them again and once again they were not interested. All they said was that I should take my phone to the nearest repair shop (which is 21 miles away!!) and let them check it out. Both of these replies were straight off a computer page!!
They also said there could not possibly be anything wrong with the update as it was checked thoroughly, When I asked if that was the case why did they have to replace over a million Note phones recently but this of course wasn't answered.
I wouldn't mind if they said they would look into it but it was just an automated response which is ridiculous.
I would suggest at EVERYONE keeps calling or texting them till they accept that the problem is NOT a glitch on the phones as it only happened AFTER the update!!
I went into my local EE shop any confirmed that they have had other customers in saying they had the same problems.
NOTE - my wife has updated her Samsung S5 (she had it on automatic update) and she has problems as well now.
My advice - do NOT update until things get sorted out!!
Dude, what the hell did they do? my S7 is horrible right now, wont charge for shit, wicked sluggish, and its getting hot when i have it on the charger.
Thank you all guys. Was thinking of updating as I have these relentless notifications to upgrade but after reading reviews I'll resist to the bitter end and will keep postponing this upgrade
