I have done both soft and hard resets (during which I lost all of my text messages since 2014), uninstalled and re-installed text msg apps, and messages fail to send and receive. Need this to function - my boss likes to text! Any info appreciated.

You can research these updates before installing them (that's what I do) In fact Vodafone uk has a dedicated software weekly wrap which gives you information on: New software versions... software update type (stability/security patch/bug fixes)... status (Testing schedule, when the update is being rolled out to a particular device and MOST importantly whether any issues were found during testing) and also the technical details such as Baseband version, Kernel version and Build number. It pays to research but a lot of people don't do that.

I'ts common sense not to risk it and download something if you're already happy with what you have. And if you are not happy with the software version you have and hope a new one will be better, then it's up to you whether or not you want to chance/risk it (after all the nightmare stories you are reading) and as i said in a previous post "As long as the software update is showing in your phones own software update settings section it should be OK to update"
I installed the new update.. And now my phone is freaking glitching out, and won't load anything! That and any time I try to watch a video I took the screen goes black and nothing happens. I've NEVER had a single problem with my S7 until now 😡
It suuuucks, Samsung. Whatever you guys did to update the software is no bueno. My s6 is soooo laggy now, facebook lags and crashes, email settings are not working properly anymore, keyboard continues to change words for no reason...??? Like why? Never had an issue before the update but now it just doesn't work properly post update. Don't update crap that ain't broken yo!
At least 2 apps have stopped working completely, another has slowed down noticeably. Uninstalling and re-installing doesn't work.
I got 2 different models both with the same "Sending Failed" for every text message.
This happened right away with the new May 1st security patch update. Anyone able to resolve this issue? I tried "forcing closing" multiple of times, rebooting the phone, and even wiping the cache partition and still the same issue. Pretty sure the issue is linked to the "Messages" app only.
So you're saying maybe I shouldn't install the new firmware update or whatever they keep nagging me to install.
Unfortunately that didn't solve the problem for me. Will keep checking back hoping someone figures this out...

We got it to work now by settings>apps>messages> force stop >confirm. I had to do it twice but it works

You claim one should not download if you don't like it. Well, how in the world do you know that before you downloaded it?
An update is supposed to be better and one trust that an update will increase a lot of features' capabilties, etc.

I'm on T-Mobile (US) and use it, and on occasion it causes an SMS or MMS to fail to send. The other person usually receives the message anyway, but on occasion it does get lost; there's no way to tell whether it's succeeded or failed. Simply cycling the wifi fixes the problem. Then you can long press on the message with the "failed" icon and resend it.
I've seen this problem now and then since back on Marshmallow, so if it's what you're seeing it's not new. My guess is it's not so much a bug in the firmware as a problem with the server it's connected to, or a limitation of the wifi calling technology.

No one has said they received a double message.
I have tried clearing the message app's cache and data, restarting the phone several times, and running in safe mode. Nothing has helped.
So I have a Galaxy S7 and just did the new software update. Now I'm having issues sending text messages. It keeps saying sending failed, yet it is received as a double text. I tried restarting my phone a few times but no change. I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me???
