The recent problems with the GN7 relate to upgrades recently distributed for the GS7 and several months ago the Lollypop to Marshmallow for the GS6 issued by Verizon.
I had the unfortunate experience with the GS6 that as soon as the upgrade was done, automatically overnight in my case with no recourse, it went into the battery overheat, un-commanded shut down and restart cycle, finally ending up with a brick while carrying the phone to a computer to back it up. No amount of key combinations or praying to various gods cured the various issues or in the final case raised the phone from the dead.
Fortunately I was 51 weeks into a 1 year warranty and had the phone replaced and immediately upgraded to the GS7.
Please Note:-The following has not been verified within official OS or hardware developers or suppliers.
Discussions with various developers of phone apps and OS enhancements not related to the the official sources advised me that there was a lot of testing on virtual machines and not on real hardware.
Those developers that did not test on real hardware found that the same problems of un-commanded restarts and battery consumption beyond design parameters and overheating were real issues when they went to release on real hardware.
Please proceed with caution when an upgrade is offered and turn off automatic updates and only upgrade after research and testing proves the safety of proceeding or if it is warranted at all.
Thank you for your time. END RANT.
Downloaded the new update on my Galaxy S7 edge phone and now my battery life is going down fast. It used to last all day that's why I loved this phone so much now I'm literally watching it go down every minute.
Samsung S7 Edge did the update through the night last night. Within 10 mins of taking it off of the charger, the battery went to 81%. Cannot access phone, continually resets itself over and over.
What the hell is anyone meant to do with a phone that continually resets? Samsung need to fix this and pronto or they are going to have a lot of angry customers...particularly if the media get a hold of it.
Ran update last night for s7 - phone completely crashed by lunch today and power is draining at a ridiculous rate!! What should I do?
I updated last night and the clear view case no longer works. Really glad I invested £40 now instead of a fiver for an alternative brand where they don't have the chips that make the phone lock on closing etc.
Anyone know how to revert the version you run?
Phone went through software update yesterday and now the audio on videos doesn't work. Any sounds the phone makes, phone calls, text notifications, keyboard sounds, etc work at times, sometimes is distorted, and doesn't work 95% of the time. Please fix!

Upgraded to the latest software update yesterday on my S7. Battery life instantly went from 70% to 35% within 5 minutes. I charged the battery overnight back to 100%. After less than 5 minutes use today, the battery life is showing 45%. What gives? I normally can run all day without charging and using my phone a lot. Did the update turn on something running in the background to drain it that quickly?
darkhaze, 02 Sep 2016I have the same problem with the new august update, freeze, phone is hot and battery drain is ... moreMy phone has bricked in 24 hours after installing that update. It completely overheated and died.
seth, 08 Sep 2016anyone else having an issue with the update where your phone keeps restarting like i cant even... moreI am yeh.
I would contact Samsung to get it replaced ASAP.
Within a few hours of doing that my phone has totally bricked.
I tried to do a factory reset and it broke during the process, and then got so hot over ten minutes I had to force it to turn off by holding every button down. It then finished reinstalling but then turned off and is now completely dead.
I am not very happy right now.
So same story as a lot of you guys on here. Installed latest Samsung update and my phone started to error whenever I close an app. It then started restarting itself over and over.
I tried to do a factory and it froze half way through, threw at error screen at me and then preceded to get hotter and hotter until eventually I managed to get it to turn off. It then rebooted and finished the reinstall, only to then promptly turn off and it is now completely bricked.
I now have a £600 paperweight and a £100 Gear VR shaped paperweight I can no longer use.
Does anyone have any advice for someone who bought their device from ebay? The phone was factory sealed and I still have the warranty book and everything else from the box.
This is obviously not the seller's fault, so I'm not going to try and claim against them.
With this latest update clearly being the issue am I legally entitled to a replacement device as it is only 5 months old and is in warranty?
anyone else having an issue with the update where your phone keeps restarting like i cant even get into my phone it keeps restarting on the logo.
Guys I got an G S7 Edge SM-G935F and the software update on phone shows 403MB, while if I try and download update via Smart Switch it shows 2118Mb, what's up with this. Which one is correct. I tried to download update via smart Switch and boy its taking forever. Anyone one with any ideas?
Latest update is a very dissapointing one. samsung u ve done a terrible mistake...do something soon to make it right.or else i ll have to switch to other cell phone.
Literally updated the phone, started to freeze constantly on me, get out of apps. slow to open things, overheat. Then tried to update to the latest software and it froze mid way through and started to reset itself. But because i have a crack in it from dropping it whilst it was hot.... I no longer have warranty with samsung. So now my phone is constantly stuck on the reset page with samsungs logo. Unfortunately the only thing i can opt to do is send it away to samsung (they have no guarantee how long it will take to return the phone, so i could be weeks with out a phone an no replacement, they also have no idea on the cost), or i can send it away to my mobile phone carrier, Telstra, and have them look at it but because it has a crack in it this voids warranty and i can pay upwards of $200 dollars to get fixed, even though its a software fault. The only good side is a get a replacement Nokia phone. But then again they don't know how long it will take to fix or how much. So i am better off paying $190 for a new refurbished phone from my carrier. Moral of the Story. IF its stuffing up go to your mobile carrier and report it or report it to samsung. Because i don't want this happening to anyone else!!!
