I have been having the same problem with my s7. Since the update, my phone dies after a few hours, even if I haven't been on it. It is taking FOREVER to charge and will not charge unless it is off, otherwise the battery still drains. I'm afraid that my phone is going to overheat and catch fire, because it is extremely hot. This update is awful.
I have the same problem. The phone is warm and the battery drains out completely in 3 hours or so.
Glad to know I wasn't alone with these problems... First the Note, then the washing machine, and now this??? Samsung trying to commit suicide?
Seems like the problem is related to the Oculus update. See https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS7/comments/55280e/overheating_and_draining_battery/
Matheus Ganzo, 29 Sep 2016Hi guys. I had the same problem after the last update, My phone just turn into shit, lagging, ... moreHow much did it help with the battery issue? Is everything else still glitching?
Going into safe mode fixes everything. That might be the way to go untill Samsung figures out what is going on
I have read the comments and I too am having every issue stated below. My phone drains within hours, lagging, not getting emails or messages. Nothing helps. I don't want to reset my phone but I may have to.
Hi guys. I had the same problem after the last update, My phone just turn into shit, lagging, super fast battery draining... After some research I found a temporary fix (this definitely improved my phone [not 100%]).
- Just logout from the new Samsung Cloud (since i dont find how to disable this service).
-You can find Samsung Cloud at: Configurations>Samsung Cloud (Yellow S Icon).
Then just restart your phone.
-If you need to turn it on again, just follow the same steps, and login with your account.
s7 edge here after update same symptoms cpu used causing keyboard lag, battery drain et hot unit.
Same problem here... It is running slooooow, and It is hot. I felt it in my pocket and I have nothing running on it. Turned all my background apps that arent system off. Battery died in 3 hours. The text is delayed also. I am about 5 characters ahead when I am typing. Samsung is playing stupid. They know, they wont admit to it though. Not a happy camper...
After the last update, it uses much faster battery and it has been very slow
found this thread because... i updated a couple days ago, and now today for the first time (why didnt it happen before??) phone is hot and battery draining fast. "battery" section says Android System is at the top of the list in terms of battery useage (30%) then Google App (14%) then Android OS (12%)...
I'm on an S7 edge verizon
Samsung 7edge. Battery drained from 100 to 10 in several hours. Haven't even used it. Phone really hot. Slow! Won't send msg. This is not fair. The phone forces you to install update yet this is what we're left with. Their had better be a solution!
What a Hell!
Same for me here. My phone bacame a shitphone. Now even typing is now freezing/lagging.
These are the updates:
August 2016 Android Security Patches
SMS over WiFi
Additional SOS message fixes
Battery drain issue in China
Oh I just got off from Samsung Chat. She said to do safe mode and let it sit for an hour. Not sure what the solution but I have the exact same problem with you! It was 100% at 6 AM and dropped to 2% at 10 AM.
Now, the phone not really "charging" , it takes way too slow to charge... :(
Same issue with me after the Sep security update the battery is terrible. I chatted with Samsung and they asked me to test in safemode.
dmvchillin89, 29 Sep 2016Thanks, Samsung. As of this morning, phone has gone to shit. Battery went from 100 to dead i... moreSame problem on my phone. Started at about 8 this morning. All of a suddne the battery use rate increased. Usually I can go all day on a battery charge. Now it is at 19% and dropping even on my charger at work.
S7 Edge on Verizon. I went from 100 percent to 11 percent in 3 hours this morning. I went looking to see if everybody else is having problems. Glad I'm not alone. Maybe they will fix it. My phone is practically unusable in this state.
