According to Wikipedia S-LCD is a joint venture between the South Korean Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd (50% plus 1 share) and Japanese Sony Corporation (50% minus 1 share)
this means that Sansung's share of displays growing more rapidly.
I love that samsung is its own competitor. First Bada phone agains its own android phones, and now S-LCD againg its own super AMOED.
Super Amoled is by far superior than any LCD display out there.....without a doubt
Anonymous, 26 Jul 2010how can you go from amoled to lcd. even s lcd doesnt beat out amoled. amoled beats out lcd in ... morecant agree with sunlight viewing or power consumption less with AMOLED displays..The best to me are transflective LCD 262k screens but each to their own..The AMOLED produces false colurs to me i.e. to strong that reds go orange a paper white backgrounds seem una chievable..
how can you go from amoled to lcd. even s lcd doesnt beat out amoled. amoled beats out lcd in everway. thinness, brightness, contrast, sunlight viewing, power consumption. wtf! just try harder or order more or something.
I wonder if this is a blessing in disguise. Maybe this will fix the multi touch problems of HTC desire/Nexus 1. This would solve one of the major problems of these phones. The other major problem of slow gpu was improved with 2.2. Battery life and better daylight viewing along with the above mentioned potential improvements would make HTC Desire the best handset in the market again.
Guillaume B, 26 Jul 2010How is that possible for the Nexus One? I thought it wasn't manufactured anymore?Google themselves have stopped selling them, HTC will still continue to produce and carriers such as Vodafone will still continue to stock and sell them. Its just Google that will no longer sell them separately.
Wow. New screen. Would like to try it out. The obvious advantage of slcd over any oled is that it wouldn't expire after 3 and a half years. Yes that's how long it takes for the organic part of OLED to expire.

I thought that Nexus one is discontinued now & Google pulled the blug on Nexus two (which was gonna be made by Motorola)
if buy a desire with amoled and after 1year the display breaks or is defect. What do u do ?if u can't find any amoled to buy/or SLCD???
Anonymous, 26 Jul 2010hmmm, seems that the high demand on samsung's wave and galaxy s is just killing the amoled's s... moreSAMOLED is running low
so they had to go LCD lol
i'm still waiting for my N8 with AMOLED screen XD
hmmm, seems that the high demand on samsung's wave and galaxy s is just killing the amoled's supplies! anyhow i hope desire's price drop in the process, 350 euro would be a good price! i know the screens effeciency will be somewhere between old lcd and oled screens,,,
Mr I-T, 26 Jul 2010Just because it has an "S" in front, it is still LCD. It doesn't mean it would win a... morei highly agree at the end of the day it still says LCD at the end of S
