old news!! Sony came out with 4K screen long back!! and now everyone follows!!
Everything was wrong with sony. The crippled overheating battery draining Sd810 was the most obvious one.
In my opinion, I dont think Samsung will put their effort on the update, so you get the stuff which will become slow or outdated include the battery performance. Nevermind people could buy the new one, as they are plenty of phones in the market.

Await and see praise in reviews of 4k screen ... moreThis is the problem with sony.. they just put out the new tech without being practical..
They put out a 4k screen just to increase PPI more clarity and get that first 4k screen on mobile award.. there was no effort from their side to use it for VR at all.. they could have simply built up a normal google cardboard type VR headset and pushed it alongside Z5 premium .. like what samsung did with gear VR .. even without advanced tracking sensors it could have still made an impact for Movie watching experience .. and would have still been a lot better than both occulus rift and gear VR.. simply because of having a high resolution screen ..just for watching movies/netflix in VR/ on a big cinema screen..
and look at samsung .. their whole purpose for making this 4k screen was for VR and VR only.. they stopped at 2k resolution because beyond that it is not worthwhile for simple phone screens .. but for VR the more resolution they can get the better it is .. and now they are investing in a 11k screen for VR ..
like steve jobs said consumers don't know what they want until you show them .. and that was a missed opportunity.. that could have resulted in big sales of Z5 premium had they made a Vr headset and put it on display for consumers to test out their VR cinema mode on a 4k screen on Z5

Na 720p. N iphone stuff here buddy. They'll have to sack the rest of foxconn to keep their same greedy high proffits, to catch up on this one.
When sony created 4k display all Samsung trolleys n baloneys are criticizing it even gsmarena. Now they r creating one but not even a single mentioned from this article about sony paving the way for a 4k display.
dexterouz, 28 May 2016Goodbye Battery !!resolution can be downgraded for normal use thru software.
for VR and 4k videos it can bump back up to 4k.
sony has shown this on the Z5
ok guys, we know sony made the first 4k smartphone, but the screen technology was not reliable. Even though the resolution it actually ran at was 1080p, the backlight had to be very bright in order to pass through so many pixels, that's where the battery drain came from. In case of AMOLED, the only extra power consumption comes from the GPU, not the screen. I said it a few years back that the first reliable 4k smartphone will have AMOLED and run everything at 1080p/2k with high antialiasing when not used for vr, it seems like I was right

Await and see praise in reviews of 4k screen from sammy:" a revolution in VR mobile gaming, finally a screen for decent VR, etc..."
But when Sony gave it, most reviews were about: "its not really needed, its not a pro but a con of z5 premium, it is only a batteryhog, etc...."
Just await and see ;-)

If it is success then it would be another sony failure to capitalise what they did first. Most of times they invent the wheel but no one pays attention but when the same wheel is reinvented everyone goes crazy. Not sure what is wrong with Sony.
AnonD-542254, 28 May 2016Sony already has a product with such a screen, so Samsung is just catching up.sony has 4k amoled?
Amoled is every pixel light up itself, if it is setting at the maximum brightness the consumption of battery must be considerable, if the 2k display get 10 hours endurance, the 4K display maybe last for 5 hours for Amoled screen, just see how is the solutions from Samsung.
Sony already has a product with such a screen, so Samsung is just catching up.
that sounds awesome. samsung may be able to find a way to keep the battery life decent in spite of the 4k res. they were able to do it with the note 4, i don't see why they won't be able to make a good attempt with this one.
dexterouz, 28 May 2016Goodbye Battery !!If its made specificay for vr I'd imagine they've taken that into account and the phone would have decent battery life, and the 4k wouldn't be used for anything else.
Also, this is Amoled so it might not be so bad. When Samsung introduced 2k amoled with the galaxy s6, people tested it and found it was actually more efficient than the galaxy s5 screen. So 4k might not reduce battery by much.
