Germany, Romania, Italy, Sweeden are heavy markets for windows. The only markets that conprehend quality to. Windows 10, might be down for the moment. But will raise, fast in the next 2 years.
Aadrian , 30 May 2016No google services: That is google being a childish company with a little sad frown face like ... moreWith less than 2% (and falling) of the global smartphone market share, why would Google bother eating time and resources? It's not just Google either, other big names are dropping support for the same reason. They're was a time I would have agreed Google were being churlish not wanting to share their toys. Hell, I almost bought a Windows Phone a couple of years back as I felt it offered something truly different in a time where Android and iOS seem to be becoming ever similar. But now it would be plain financial madness to develop anything for the platform. It's dead, move on. Alcatel are just showing up to the wake..
AnonD-210527, 30 May 2016Windows phones are declining indeed. But that is not because OS is incompetent but because of ... moreOK, I see what you're saying. The last WM phone I ever interacted with was a Windows 7 HTC if memory serves me correct. My issue with it was that it was very much like the glorified gsm enabled ipod, in the sense where i had to use Zune to load my media. THAT did not sit well with me. I'm DEFINITELY about that hotswap life (as a friend of mine just learned on her month long trip to China with ONLY her iLimited which ran out of space! HA!). So you're saying WM is pandering to the market that WAS BB stronghold. Hmmm! Interesting. Well, Asus already uses Intel, that would be a nice fit, no? I do wish developers would stop that crap though, strangling an OS because you like one more than the other, UNLESS you were slighted by them in the first place. And even that isn't the best thing in business, but more understandable. Give the platforms a fair chance to fight. Thanks for your answer though, appreciate it.
No one cares about WP, WP is irrelevant, it's DEAD, put a fork in it.
AnonD-392127, 30 May 2016Can u post some links where u saw start screen customization.
Here's a few I quickly grabbed. There's a lot out there and they vary so much. It's all out of the box too.
AnonD-237590, 30 May 2016no snapchat no google services no proper instagram, wp needs appzzz*Onedrive is like Gdrive, but there are 3rd party apps for it if it really matters that much where the files sit.
*Google maps has a 3rd party app.
*MS maps has actually gotten a lot better than google maps. It's still a bit rough on the corners though as far as reliability. But it seems to be getting better with updates. There's much better 3rd party gps solutions though. I even preferred Here Drive to google maps as it was always super accurate for me and I have had google maps mess me up at times.
*Gmail can be configured in the default mail program.
*Snapchat used to have an even better 3rd party app than the official but CEO got his lawyers involved to take it down. Now anytime a new 3rd party solution comes up they ban the accounts. But who knows what the future holds.
A lot of companies didn't like Balmer so that didn't help the situation. Maybe Satya could help with some partnerships.
Most apps that are used the majority of the time are there. A report of most used apps came out and you would be surprised how little apps people use. Facebook was the top app.
Twitter for Windows 10 mobile is actually better than for android/ios. And I do have all 3 phones so I'm not being biased. The dark mode looks amazing.
I would say that my honest opinion out of all the ones I used I would pick windows 10 as my favourite OS. The start screen can be extremely customized which most people don't know. Heck even in places where people post crazy start screens windows 10 users will ask "how did you do that". MS doesn't really do a good job educating. There are so many features people don't know about because MS just puts them in and that's that. When I first used my 950XL it had this little help bubble that told me how to use the navbar. MAn if they made more use of those bubbles people could learn the OS much better.
Anyways as far as app quality I still prefer IOS to android. Though as an OS I prefer android marshmallow to the latest ios. Ios used to be better but seemed to have gone downhill with the latest versions.
Anonymous, 30 May 2016For the mobile industry ?? Its just the beginning dude...Dream on.
AnonD-237590, 30 May 2016its beta, not even the new look lol, maybe next year.https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/store/apps/instagram/9nblggh5l9xt
AnonD-237590, 30 May 2016its beta, not even the new look lol, maybe next year.nope its not in beta. Actually the official instagram app launched without the beta tag. The beta app is out of phase and won't be upgraded. Facebook launched the official one separately and received several updates till now.

AnonD-210527, 30 May 2016Windows phones are declining indeed. But that is not because OS is incompetent but because of ... moreThat is true, with all those OEM's only a small perecentage of them is willing to make Windows devices, and not even the bigger names out there. All OEM's just keep stuck with Android only. There is a very important task for OEM's to help a different OS catch on, but no one is willing to cooperate it seems. I am glad Alcatel is adopting Windows 10 for now with at least two devices, as well as Acer which released some W10 mobile devices earlier already. It would be great if a bigger brand name, like Sony or perhaps Samsung, would release a W10 device. Especially Samsung has the money to throw a dozen of W10 devices to the wall and see what sticks... From every 100 droids which got released there's maybe 5 Windows devices against it. Obviously nobody adopts the OS when there's so little to choose from.
The Observer, 30 May 2016Wow! Tech news scene was SLOW this weekend, because this isn't news. Can someone educated me o... moreWindows phones are declining indeed. But that is not because OS is incompetent but because of lack of devices being released. Last year over 97% share of windows phone was nokia lumia or microsoft lumia devices. Now it microsoft wants its partners to make the devices and MS can be a software company(although they are making surface line which is very successful and maybe a surface phone coming too).
There still is big app gap between windows 10 and android/ios(Some famous people hate windows 10 e.g. snapchat CEO). This gap is not closing anytime soon and so MS is going to market their windows phone to enterprise customers. Maybe they will make a comeback if they succeed in enterprise world.
One last hope for windows phone mobiles is the UWP(universal windows platform). It can bring some exciting xbox games to mobile, sync apps on xbox, windows PCs, windows mobile, holo lens (all the devices with windows 10 on it). That sounds exciting and if UWP is successful on xbox and PC, people might switch to windows mobile because you already own so many UWP apps.
Of course windows will be the next generation. But people have to change their mind.Example:If a android phone gives a normal egg, people see the egg as a golden egg.But if windows 10 mobile gives a golden egg people see them as beast of chicken..I like windows 10 mobile.I have many androids. But everyone uses an android. No fashion not unique.Windows still unique and i love it
This actually looks good. Its like an S7 crossover with Sony Z3 series, looking from that lock button. Design wise is promising, but Windows OS? Nah.
