Brilliant news! HTC is really living up to its expectations, bravo.
If you really are desperate for 2.2 with sense then root you phone (very easy) and install Modoco's custom ROM. (google it).

i am totally nd officially confused now ???? i just spoke to htc europe call centre and lady there confirmed that there is NO OFFICAL DATE FOR 2.2 UPDATE DECIDED YET .
so i am not sure who is saying trutth here . i guess have to just wait and watch and hopefully update is rolled out this weekend ....

this is both good news and bad news.
its good to hear that my desire is gonna get some froyo love, but since its not unlocked i have to wait a few weeks before i get an update. i hate locked phones, especially orange ones as they contain the most rubbish from the carrier. i dont even use any of their apps, its all just a waste of space. next time am going for the unlocked version.

Looks like I'm going to be one of the lucky ones then, my phone is unlocked & not tied to a network.
As soon as it becomes available & I've downloaded it I'll let you know, what it's like. :)

I wonder if gapless playback is added with the Froyo update?
This is really the only thing that's keeping me away from Android based smartphones as I use my iPhone 3G primarily for listening to music and I work in the group fitness industry and almost all of our music is gapless.
I really want the Desire but will just have to see if gapless playback is yet implemented.
